Day off today so I got busy, the frame had had a few coats of black paint where it had been touched up in a few different places. It gave me a good excuse to strip it back a check for cracks, all good with only a few scratches to sand back. The swingarm goes off tomorrow to get mounts welded on for race bobbins then it will get the same treatment. Going to go with a black 2k base coat with a 2k flat clear only because it was the best I could do in 2k. No real semi gloss black in 2k, it will be interesting to see how the finish looks on the frame.

You don't muck around do you Rob. What did you use to strip the paint off? Whatever it was worked a treat.

Who are you going to get to weld the mounts on to the swingarm for you?

BTW, love the H1 in the background.

Kev, I only used about a 1 ltr of paint stripper, soft brass brush and a med scotch brite cleaned up very easy. Only money poor not time poor  . I can't remember the name the person who does some of my alloy work, but he's over near bankstown airport. I had a few things come up today so I coundn't get over to him, doesn't really matter as I didn't have time to turn up the mounts for him to weld on.
But I did get time to put the frame in etch primer and sand blast the header pipes , link pipe & give a coat of paint.

He's a picture of the frame in etch primer and some parts that have come over the last few days. Love the sound of the delivery man banging on the door of a morning. My woodcraft clip on's, toe guard, samco hose set, stainless steel clamps, shim kit & tarozzi rearsets.

Here's some of my collection thats green for you.

Certainly is a lovely collection of green you've got there Rob.

You'll have this thing back together and up and running in no time at all and she's certainly going to look the part.

Cheers Kev, trying to do my bit for the breed preservation. Couple more lying around under covers or in parts/ slow builds. Then there's the want list always growing, I really need to get more storage space.

Yeah I'm trying flat out to get this bike up and running would like to say in a months time but to be realistic with waiting for parts/money hopefully 2 months. Still trying to investergate more on it's history.

As for looking the part it's mainly a good clean up and replace parts that have been changed or damaged during it long track work life. I am led to believe this bike has never been rego'd as it was bought in 91 and raced through the early ninties by a priveteer in superbike in nsw.

While I've had some time over the last week I got the green paint mixed up started repairing the fairings and painted the wheels. The mix I got made up is more closer to the P model green not so yellow as the earlier green I like it better anyway.

The wheels came out nice, new bearings and axles rezinced for the hell of it. Front forks have been disassemble, cleaned and checked with new fork seals and oil was all that was needed. At some time it has had new bushes by the look of it as there is no play or wear at all.

Still waiting for new steering head bearings to arrive so I can start putting the frame back together and get it rolling again.

You're certainly handy with a spray gun Rob along with a few other hidden talents I might add, bike rebuilding related of course

I'm measuring up the linkage as we speak Troy and I'm comparing it to a P model, H model and an after market (NWS I think) linkage that I bought from the UK last week, so watch this space.

Thanks Troy I've been putting all my spare time into it, sorry I haven't posted it up on that other site.
I'm glad you and Kev are playing with those linkage numbers, hope you can get someting out of it! bit out of my league.

Multifaceted Kev, I like to think   the shoe box of a shed is always ready to take on most jobs.

Done a bit more on the fairings today most are ok just needing a rub back and small repairs except for the top fairing which has had a number of repairs and a number of coats of paint not done properly as the paint can be lifted of with a knife 2k over acrylic so it's slowing me down a bit I wanted to get repairs and colour done over the break still hoping.

I also broke down the wiring harness to see what was there and clean up. I'm still debating wheather to run the fuel pump as I sure I read on the keihin web site that with the fcr's it was better to run them without? I think I've got fuel supply covered with the pingle hi volume fuel tap with twin outlet.I'm chasing up a 01 zx6 righthand switch block to replace the one thats on it as it has just on/off and starter button so I can run my quick action throttle.

Yeah Troy I thought about it, I also tried ballards and mcas to find a generic switch block. He main reason was that the orignal has the throttle incorporated and it's a big peice of plastic. The main reason for the 00-01 zx6 swicth block was that I remembered that it was fairly small and only had on/off and starter button (no lap timer) really anything would do.

On my other bike (will not mention make ;) ) I'm running a full total loss system it was a simple rocker type on/off generic aftermarket switch. I don't have a roller starter yet so I'm keeping this one with starter only for the time being.

Cheers Rob.
