How about the big river near silverwater road. Always seen it under the bridge while heading to uni, unsure about fishing there though.

Havnt lived down there for 20 yrs but back then i wouldnt eat the fish from there,this is the last one i caught from there

get on the train to circular quay, get the ferry across to greenwich.
the fishing is not too bad, have caught some decent stuff here as well as the odd wtf is that?!
Just remeber to watch for the ferry (twice an hour) and get out of its way (bring lines in etc).
