the size of balls in todays youth must be shrinking, so they had to ban the 2 strokes, no one left has the balls to ride them!
Got that right !! It takes real balls to ride a 2T on the edge, anyone can punt a diesel

With a big thanks to the KTOG...
New information has come to the fore after I posted a pic of the carb in a "WTB" carb body thread.

As you can see in the circled pic below...a locating pin should be present here to allow the needle jet to be aligned correctly "which is was"... but it turns out raw fuel is now allowed to enter the air bleed circuit of the needle jet.

Well fuck me....wonders never seek to amaze me.

aah OK - not sure if these are available as an OEM part or anything.......but you might be able to use something else and just press it into place.

Happy to report the operation was a complete success and the bike is now firing on all 3 cylinders as it should. 8)

Manufactured a pin using 1 of the old jet needles...fits like a glove.

Although haven't taken it for a test ride...confident the matter has been well and truly solved. :kuda:

I would have been more than happy to Dave, I've got a nice set of 38's that you could have given a try as well  , but good to hear you've got it all sorted now.
