such a fucking back-flipping fence-sitting cockwart. If he is the best alternative leader this country has at the moment, then Joolia can expect to remain in power for several more years.

ahh yes agreed and knew that this would be brought up. However considering we went from massive defecit to a surplus in about 5 years, had the lowest unemployement ever, had one of the biggest housing/ building booms and dodged the GFC largely due to his leadership I guess we cant complain to much. ;)

he also didnt fund anything in government, except the army... howard would have preferred if all public hospitals and schools, just disappeared, that all new roads were toll roads built by the private sector so we (the working public) could pay for the pleasure of driving ourselves to work and around the country... its easy to save money when you don't spend any money that you've been collecting as tax from all the companies and workers... but this is at the crux of the difference between labor and liberal, and we could talk about this forever...

I think this is the core of the problem. Too many levels of govt, too many varying interests and nothing ever gets done at any level of efficiency. The old lines of liberal and labour are so "blurred"

Its all fine.
I heard them say this before the election... ;)

The biggest problem with politics in this country is not necessarily the politicians, but the system (think preferencing) and the voters.
In particular those voters with an indoctrinated hatred or love of a particular party. There are 2 many people in this country that will continually vote for the same party no matter what they do and defend them to the hilt when blind Freddy can see they are clearly doing the wrong thing.
If you have only voted for 1 party all your life (unless your a youngen) your not part of the solution, your part of the problem.
We have had good and bad government on both sides of the political spectrum and in a democratic society the government should be for the people and based on the peoples needs, not to appease the noisy minority.
Good government needs good opposition, we have neither.

Stupid question in this instance Steve, she/they gained that attitude when they had to make a deal with the Greens to gain government, hence whilst JG is PM it's really Bob Brown that has the country by the balls and given his gender preference that's probably apt..

Hold onto your hats, Sunday is release day
The Gumbyment will finally reveal, who, what, when, where and how much
Then they will spend $20M on the advertising campaign to try and convince everyone it's the right thing for Australia
that's after (for the first time ever  ) they spend a further $1M just researching the best way to sell it to us punters in an advertising campaign. I can't believe they are spending $1M to work out the best way to spend $20M
They may as well just tell us with their usual arrogance what we are in for, and it's not negotiable... Then spend the $21M on Roads, Hospitals, Schools, etc, etc..
