keep riding and just stay alert
and oh keep those black rubber hoopy things on the road, they work better that way....

ACME INSTANT HUMAN - just add coffee

re: advice pls
just be careful
there are so many people out there on bikes who are CRAZY... u have to be as careful as possible to ensure ur own safety
i got hit by a car from behind while i was at a stop. now every time i'm at a stop and i see a car come up behind i can feel the motion of being knocked forward
i suppose i'll get over it eventually, but there's no way i'm gonna stop riding cos of that.
before i got a bike i knew what i was getting into. people i knew had been hospitalised after major accidents but there's something about being on a motorbike that makes me feel alive
my dad rode for something like 30 years and he never even stacked it. i guess he got really lucky.

re: advice pls
Hey mate, a lot of good advice here, so i wont ramble on to much.
If you love it, continue doing it, because if you stop because someone else wants you to, you'll regret it.
I did it years ago, for my ex wife and regretted it. When we broke up, i had a bike a week later. It was funny, i rang her and said if you woundering where the money went out of the bank account, i've bought a bike with it.
I could hear her yelling from Sydney.
If your questioning yourself, give it a few weeks to weigh it all up and make your decision then. (make sure you go for a ride in that time and think about your decision, whilst your on it too)
Respect it, what it can do and it will respect you.

re: advice pls
I can't thank you guys enough for your advice on this issue that obviously most of you have experienced.
I've kept riding the past couple of days and i've come to realise that i can't give it up.
it's like smoking, it's addictive and i love it.
It wasn't that i wanted advice on whether or not to stop riding, but more to deal with the criticism and to get your views on the dangers.
I have come to the conclusion that riding hurts but only if and when i come off, the rest of the time it is bliss.
i have told my family and friends that i won't stop riding and that i'm the one who has to deal wit the consequences, not them.
they may not like it, and yes they are just concerned for me, but they will have to get used to it.
i don't wanna live or ride in fear so i'm gonna do everything i can to protect myself out there.
Thanks heaps again,
Vince.

re: advice pls
Vince, I'm glad to hear that.
After seeing dave crash, I'm a bit nervous about riding (and he's the one hurt not me
) but it's what we love doing, and we know the risks, it's a part of us, if people refuse to see that then they really don't know us at all.
I'm glad I got over my dislike of bikes, because not only did I get to know Stu better, I found I really liked riding, and now it is such an important part of my life that I don't think I could give it up to please someone.
You are your own destiny, and keep up the good work.
P.S. neons are not cool

funny that i had to wait four months cause she cleaned me out

Vince do what you think is right, some one once told me go with your first decision cause its usually right. If you take a break its no biggy cause there's always a newer better Kawasaki just around the corner waiting for you to come back.
I know how you feel in 1984 i lost a good mate from our Romsey U17's footy team, my other mate from my high school soccer team has been in a wheel chair since he was 18 when he came off his RD250. Having said that we also lost another 2 team mates from Romsey in a car crash that year. It scared me off bikes for a while, then kids came along (no money no time), i waited till i was 36 before i got my first road bike, wish i'd been riding earlier but hey thats life
