Re: tune up
always happy to help where i can, i hate seeing the average non-mechanic getting "touched" for no good reason! The soot on your finger wont tell you a lot, the soot is more about slow running and the type of fuel being burned unfortunately. Air Fuel ratio on these bikes is a lot leaner than ideal and anything modified will lean it further, its probably not too much of an issue around town or even the twisties but would likely be a problem when really working it, say, at a track day or higher speed runs etc.ezzazrx wrote:OK I've spoken to my mate at work today who also rides bikes, he reckons have a look at the inside of the muffler to see if it's running to lean this is what she looks like, dry black soot.Going on this she seems alright, once again thanks Angry the advice is appreciated.

However I pulled the muffler apart again wrapped the steele wool around the baffle then wrapped that up with masking tape, this allowed me to slid the whole lot down into the insulation and reassemble the muffler, then the tape burned away. I got to say she sounds sweet.
Well boys after saying that I've just got a new yoshi, (got sick of looking at the scratches on the cut down,)I got the stainless one and I just can't bring myself to cut her down, YET. Sure makes the Rex quiet though,I picked it up from BGW an online store run by Mick Malladin, $499 free post had it in 3 days.

I guess having two I can chop and change and if the cops hassle me I could put the quiet one on.
