Also it may just be the piston seals sticking and keeping the pads from releasing a little bit. If that's the case then strip the calipers, clean the pistons and caliper down (degreaser and an old toothbrush do a great job for this). Make sure they are thoroughly flushed and 100% dry before reassembly. Grease the pins and put them back on, the problem should now be gone, and while your doing this you might as well just replace the old pads too.

oh ok ill have a go today but im a bit wary of the whole thing. but i spose you gota start somewhere! lucky its an old bike not a new one i hate to stuff up a new one haha

haha i cheated, just happened to see the bloke who does the bike services on the side(cash) walking past my house i roped him in and asked for some help. i was expecting help ie i do the job he keeps a watchout over me but no he bought his tools and brake bleeding shit and waalaa its fixed. took caliper apart cleaned piston and greased pins new pads and bled system and it works great. thanks for all you advice.
ill have to get back hold of him for help on the headlight as he kow a whole lota people in the trade and wreckers.

haha yeah i took notes the next task he said is just to cut a thin piece of perspex to stop the wind rushing in and at a later date do the light.
