well after having the shoei for 2 or so months it has bedded around the shaped my head. initially it was hurting my ear as the foam was pressing against it, but now its very comfortable.
it seems to have a built in overspeed sensor, when I hit 115 there is a loud whistling sound which come on quite quick, not a gradual build up.
but keep it under that and the helmet is fantastic

The whistle sound does go away if you tuck in, i dont have a DB screen on the bike and im sitting up (as much as you can on a sports bike) when this usually happens.
Yes the whistle does sound like a siren, the first few times i shat my pants thinking they were right behind me, ive learnt to ignore it now, but lets home i dont ignore the real one...actually lets home the real one never happens

Well, i was in a shark (great lid) especially the visor system real easy, now need a new one (stacked) prob go to shark again depending on fit, although aria are a top lid but i like the breath gaurd and aria not so big on them.
I have an Arai Vector and absolutely love it. I have 4 helmets (one other is an Arai), and many more over the years before that, and I will always swear by Aria. Fits so well and does not press on my ears which I hate and many other brands do (Shark especially), and they have the most plush materials you will ever try on. I picked it up from Western's on a price match with MCAS. More so because they are local and had the design, colour, and size in stock. The only thing I dont like is a slight whistling with the visor up at low speed with my head on certain angles. Def not a deal breaker though.
IMHO I would never ever buy a cheap helmet. Not even from the safety point, but for comfort. You are in the thing up close for the whole time you are riding, so why be uncomfortable. The extra week or two saving up for a good helmet is long forgotten a year down the track when you are still enjoying it.
I went helmet shopping on the weekend and after trying on everything I could find , I went back to the old faithful Shoei XR1100. As soon as I put it on I thought "why the hell have you even been looking". For my bonce nothing comes close to the Shoei. The old credit card was smouldering but it's a once in 5 year acquisition so I figure it's worth paying a bit more.
I got the Diabolic Cimmeran Graphic because it has a little blue skull on it (superstition maybe but all of my track helmets have had blue on them)
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.
