The Gumby has the Brembo master cylinder and 14 calipers on it and feel wise at the track it seems fine. I still don't think it pulls up much better than a stock Crim set up though other than it has less lever travel.

At the track on friday I thought they lacked a bit of initial bite but I'm not sure what pads are in it. I might try EBC HH's

the stock 14 pads, and 10r pads for that matter are awesome. i used them in the 14 calipers. good things.

ask Jamie Aitken, he reckons the stock pads are best. says he dreads wearing them out coz he has to swap them.

Far be it from me to question the wisdom of young Jamie but for a mere mortal I thought the EBC HH's felt massively better on the Crim then the stock pads, but then I'm wobbling around in 150 plus's. They felt a heap better though. The pads that are in the Gumby didn't feel all that good at the creek, but I don't know what they are.

Then again I still reckon stock zx10 brakes are fine, you're all just soft :P :P

my gumby had the dreaded brake fade today. last session i started to use 4 fingers just so it didnt squash my pinky. still plenty of feel and stuff, but fade is fade. :?

2006zx10r wrote:Wattie, i think you are right, the brembo and the nissin's are overkill. Going back to the stock 10mc and see how that feels, if thats no good, i will have some nissin calipers for sale...............
2006zx10r, did you ever go back to stock 10r m/c with the Nissins? Just wondering if it made a difference in feel and bite.

I just bought a set of 09 ZX6R Nissin calipers off the (U.S.) net for the ZRX. Gonna mount them with eBAy adaptors. Long shot, but do you know if goodridge braided hoses that are on the stock Tokicos will fit the Nissins.

Thanks,
Tony

bumpity bump

Not so much interested in ZRXs but in what changed after fitting newer calipers and keeping the stock M/C - better feel / bite than the previous fully stock set-up or what?

thankity thanks

the zx14/ zx6 calipers were literally twice as good as the stock calipers, even with the stock M/C.
