if you are getting quoted $18K for a new ZX10 then you better learnt to bargain better
the new R1 i would expect the price to be up due to new model and will drop soon enough
These are ride away prices... including dealer delivery and all the stuff... Think its still high?
Sh'yeah, dude. 16 and a bit seems to be the going rate for the 10's.
Like I mentioned earlier, the thing hasn't sold anywhere near as well as Kwaka had hoped, and the '07 model is the same as the '06. All of those things are levers you can use to bend the Kwaka guy over.
"Oh, but it's the '07."
"Yup. Those colour-coded heat shields on the mufflers really are worth paying two grand extra for."
Personally, I'd find someone who's lost their license on a black 06 10 and buy that for 12.5k.

lapped 20 of them 3 times I reckon.
Its all down to the rider - any gumby can front up and buy the latest and greatest, but as has been pointed out, it doesn't make them a good rider !! The bike just compensates for the riders incompetence

sometimes...........and sometimes not.......here's an example:....
MickC was right behind me last year on a ride with some local crew, and coming into a med-fast Lhander that goes up and over a crest and opens up into a lovely fast sweeping Lhander, I was fair up some gumby on an R1, had his knee down, probably thought he was *on the gas*.......until he got passed on the outside.........by a 25 year old Z1000

bye bye lardarse !!!
Kypez - go the 10 mate, R1's are just so *yawn*.......

yup
the new r1 will be high due to new bike like i said but will come down soon enough
lets go back say about 4 months
ZX10 in crate 06 $15500
R1 06 in crate $14500
add your on roads stamp duty rego and a couple of hours labour to assemble say about a grand and a bit
K6 gix1K have been walking out the door at $16500 with yoshi pipes
get on the phone , ring every cahn and get prices , bargain hard, bikes hvent been so cheap for a long long time

The problem with R1 is anyone who passes you will grin from ear-to-ear
Or is making someone happy is actually a problem at all
The 2005 Black R1 is high on my list

kypez wrote:As for Stereo's comment, how many times do you pass GSXR1000 riders around tracks... let me tell you, PLENTY!! Cause every guy and his dog have either an R1 or GSXR. They just cant ride the machines...
i rarely see 06 10R's, but when i did last saturday at the spur i think the guy took a wrong turn at alberque on his way to grab a latte

this squid was scared of the throttle on the straights
so i guess 06 10R's must suck

Well the whole argument on riders on bike brand A vs riders on bike brand B is a bit of a toss, but I know all you guys are just poking a bit of fun
The only time I have been riding with someone on the road and actually been out paced to the point I havent even bothered keeping up was by a guy on a.... yep 2001 R1.. It was up Brindabella road from the left turn at the T intersection with Uriarra road (I hope all you ACT riders know what I mean) up to the dirt. This fella was dragging his knee through a lot of the corners but at a real quick pace I tells ya..
To be honest I quite like the R1's they are probably equal second choice for a litre I4 superbike along with the 'blade. In my opinion the finish on them is the best, they look gorgeous particularly in the details but as has been pointed out the heat issues with the underseat pipes is enough to rule them out as I commute every day. Not to mention the ZX-10R (well can't comment on the current model) is just so balls out farkin fun yet at the same time so utterly confidence inspiring. Not to mention it is sleek, sexy and sounds bloody nice as well. They are very comfortable as well, I have done a few 800k days on them and about 2500ks over four days and I really wasnt that less comfortable then I was on my viffer... though carrying a lot of gear is not really an option.
For these reasons it wins my vote!

Mate i'd say the ZX10 straight away, but if your edging on comfort on a sportsbike why arent you considering a GSXR1000 all the bike mags say its heads above the others in comfort....nah take the kwaka anyway

Mate you know how wide those freeways are, you could land a jumbo and not touch the sides
