No matter what yur new bike is it is just about imparitive to gear the sucker down.
One up on the front is the go at least.
Drive/thrust is improved out of sight.....
Before you go for a larger bike gear down yur 6 (whatever)
Think of the extreme of 80 tooth rear stunt bikes that climb the chain.

only problem is where the power is on the new litre bikes (except the zook), by the time you get to it your already motoring. this may be ok in the NT, but in a land of ever decreasing speed limits its not much fun.
Well Strika I am up for a race-bike swapsie anytime you want man, I really want to see how much slower I am than you on your beast anyway, plus it would be good to ride it to see just how much my setup is lacking.
And yes they do wheelie like crazy, which sucks for me coz I can't do em and I get all scared like a girlie when the thing lifts the front, particularly during a race start, where it is still trying to chuck me off the back in 3rd gear.....
But they are the most funnest thing around! Mine makes 140-150 at the tyre, and has heaps of midrange as well. Fun Fun FUN!

problem is, they make going stupidly fast sooooo easy. its all gonna end in disaster when mr hwy patrol sees you. i can get myself into waaaaaay too much trouble in second gear
Dropping a tooth on the front definitely makes a big difference in general rideability...the 10 just motors whatever speed you are going now. Definitely better than the 06 10 I rode straight after hopping off mine, which took a little while to wind up in comparison.
...and I've been meaning to ask what the deal was with the Honda and the trailer?

nope, its the current "shape" but i understand the 06 are a littler easier to control than the 04-05
then again 1 tooth down on the front would tend to induce behaviour as strika has said.

Then I have to wonder how much engine work's been done to this thing to make it seem that impressive. I've test-ridden a stock 04 R1 and I have to say that the last time I rode a bike whose engine was so overwhelmed by its chassis, it was a mate's ZXR250. I ended up spending the straight sections in first gear, whacking the throttle to the stop at various revs, trying in vain to find a spot in the rev range where the bike would snap my head back my old 2000-model R1 used to; all it would do is wind out the tacho... eventually.
The chassis on it is wicked, the brakes on it are wicked, it looks wicked, but that motor belongs in a 600. The '98 FireBlade has more menace to it.

I know it's probably mentioned too far back, but the bike isn't stock. I mentioned prior to this, that it had a few minor mods, such as Micron cans and mid section, PC, Mapped, Gearing! So it was bound to pull harder than a geared to the moon stocker with standard pipes. But I still see no issues with the motor. It has loads of power everywhere, and is smooth as silk. Did several roll ons with the guys on ZX10's on Sunday and there was never much in it! But I can understand you thinking it lacks bottom end when you rode a bike that will pull 160kph in first gear. they are saying similiar things about the new ten for the same reasons. But hey, my comments about the power are all relative to my experience, and better riders like yourself may find them to lack bottom end, but to my uneducated head it fealt great!
