Me thinks its the money that stops nurses chucking it in and finding a less stressful job.
I am nine subjects of graduating as an RN and have been studying for 5 years now...the sooner the better! I don't think it is the money, I think it is the vocation. Nursing is a calling, just as teaching is.

.....Well, I'll graduate if I ever get through this flipping assignment....
yep same boat here esie....

dam 4 assignment 1 exam and 4 more subjects to go.....
but i am already a nurse...lol...

i have an aunty that had been a nurse in a county hospital for over 30 years and she works crap hours.

story - my uncle was driving along when comes along a ambulance and a bike down, the father in law on the back(pillion) is dead and the rider isnt in a good shape so my uncle gets asked to driver the ambulance to the hospital as they really need both ppl in the back to work on the rider on the way to hospital

then my aunty goes in with like a 5 min call to be waiting at the hospital to try and get this guy ready for a chopper flight to major hospital

i cant believe the commitment she has to her work

what can I say, we are just magnetic!
just sometimes not in the right way!

Tell you one thing its a pain I never want to experience EVER again, espcially the suffocating part and clambering at teh floor trying to get up and say something until I started to breath again!

There goes me doin the padi licence now :( but hey Im alive, I dont care!

ozx6r I agree, the dedication these people have is amazing, I no think about the stupid shit that people whinge and whine about in their day to day things, then something like this happens, sure its changed my viewpoints but to see what these nurses put up with on a daily basis is amazing.
Next time I hear someone whinge about their job that they dont have a coffee machine or some other stupid shit Im gonna tell em what these people do.

I know for sure we cant live without them, they kept me alive!

My eldest sister is a RN. She was able to translate "medical" into "english" for my family when I had a big mishap. She was with me in A&E and was going to punch another nurse out cause she was doing a crap job putting my NG tube in (still makes me laugh).

But if one of her grandkids so much as sneezes he might have anything from an allergy to avian influenza....

But yeah, they're seriously underpaid for the work they do and the crap they have to put up with from rude patients and arrogant doctors.
