I've had several different Brands over the last twenty odd years of road riding. From Bell, Laser, FM, AGV, HJC & Shoei's. I agree with the comments above buy one thats just a little tight but suits your needs.

I have been a brandname Helmet Buyer over the years Mostly To AGV & later to Shoei. But after recently reading the Snell/Dot debate crap i think my next helmet will be middle of the range unit. Like the top of the line from an up n coming brand.

Dont forget Visability both theirs & yours If your easier to see your less likely to be center - punched.

Personally I don't sweat in my helmet but i'm led to believe the lid supposedly has a removable liner, shoei rf 900, can nayone confirm/deny that for me and if confirmed tell me how I get the bastard out as I wouldn't mind giving it a wash anyways :)

As for what helmet, really an individual thing, supposedl the quietest on the market are the BMW;s but there around $700 or so, your call. Not sure wht bikes they have been tested with but probably their flagship would be one of them :)

New helmet is an AGV Stealth, good vents but NOISY..
Also the vents on top dont seem to like high speed as the scoops are lifting ALREADY and the sticker fell off the back on day one....
NOT happy Jan.....
Every other AGV I have had was excellent...
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

many good points to em all, some not so good point...if u want quiet, go with earplugs..
as for removable liner..does ne 1 ever remove theres?? ive never done it (then again my lids dont seem to last that long)

I guess all i can add here is to suggest life of the liner....

My Arai's (Quantum) fit like new (snug) after many years
My AGV's all ended up way too loose over time
The Shoei (x11) seems to be holding up ok... glad i didnt pay for it though

Maybe others can help about life expectancy - but being able to remove and wash the liner is damm useful.

2c or less :p

After her little off, I had to buy Mrs Felix a new helmet. The one that fit best was a Shoei TZ-1. She didn't really want to spend that kind of money on a helmet but she reports it is much quieter than her old MDS, so she thinks it was worth buying something a bit dearer.

LMAO i can't believe so many people fall for the marketing crap. The latest and greatest brand motorbike helment will barely help your precious brain any more than any bicycle helmet (which actually doesn't provide much protection). If you smack your head on something, your brain is going to smack into the inside of your skull doing the same damage no matter what helmet you're wearing (unless your helmet has a huge air bag or something).

That said, the main thing is to get one (any brand) that fits properly, 1. for the best protection and 2. A badly fitting helmet is an anoying distraction that can cause accidents. Different brands and models will fit different shapped heads.

Other handy things of course are vents (however they have to take out precious brain protecting foam to make room for vents), removable liner for washing, and a breath deflector to stop your visor from fogging up in winter.

I've had three brands
Shoei
AGV
Suomy (current)

First was my Shoei RF200, I found it to give the best peripheral vision (maybe more important than noise, comfort concerns??)
AGV Q3 came along after crashing with the Shoei on, couldn't go past it.. Black with mirror tint visor. Comfortable but not as "open" as the Shoei. Have had it for over 10 years,
Updated to the Suomy, last year, bought it as a holiday souveneir (went to Las Vegas and bought the Goorenberg graphics - casino etc...)

So my recommendation is that you choose based on comfort and vision!!

HEY
whats more important to u?? ..a safe helmet?? or a sweet looking lid with awesome graphics that say "fark u scum" to all the riff raff out there, and bling accessories like iridium visor, so that u can say "hey mr jones, i not only keep up with u, im kicking ur ass to the finish line"

i kno wot is to me...
