I think all zx7's run a 6inch rim. the older zxr's run a 5.5inch rim.

All zx7r's have 6inch rear rim.

I have 1 question in regards to this:

since the zx7r has the 6inch rim, most bikes with 180/55 rears a 5.5 inch rim, would putting a 180/55 on a zx7r not improve the turn in?

ie because of stretching the tyre to fit over a wider rim will flatten it?

Just that the 190/55 arent commonly available and I enjoy the extra nimbleness the taller profile rear gives and am thinking of trying 180/55.

Would this then be a waste of switching to 180/55 if it doesnt raise the rear as you would expect a 55 to do.

I until recently owned a fantastic zx7r.

180 is the way to go, I had a commuter put in, but previous to that had a 207RR (which was good, but utter crap towards the end of its life)

go the 180

The question im asking = is there any difference of a 180/55 on a 6inch rim compared to a 190/50 because of being spread over greater distance.

Settle down!

I want to know if a 180 will make any difference at all!

When you went from 190/50 to 180/55, did you go from same brand/type tyre to same brand/type tyre?

If you didnt then how triangular the tyres were may have made the difference in handling. If you did have same brand/type then obviously the 180 doesnt spread flat.

Instead of making "im not a frikken tyre fitter" comments think through the situation and use ur brain to figure out a way to answer questions intelligently.

We are all here for the same purpose and this is a technical discussion!

Obviously i'm not here for the same purpose as you. Just dont appreciate having my post rejected by you simply reposting the same question, when I actually wasnt answering your question at all considering you didnt start the thread.

I went from dunlop (190) to a bridgy (180) difference was amazing. The profile of the tyre was completely different, and was not flat by anymeans.

Now pull your head in!!.

There you go.

See the difference may have simply been the shape of tyre itself that gave sharper steering.

Anybody have an answer to my question?
