and yea the yanks are still getting the 03 zx6r as a zzr over there, a shame we cant get em here still as a option to the zx6r (which could be called a RR or sumthin, and the RR could be called "track R" or sumthin)
theres been talk of the zzr goin for a few yrs...
yes they all look the same (brutale,er-6,cb hornet,fz yamy) all have similar features..hence why i love the z1000..its truley different...

Too right, I could see myself on a Z1000 as well (now I have closure)mfzx6r wrote:Mick
you put yourself through this zzr600 dieing thing every year
Now you'd look good on a z1000

...and it IS a Kawasaki

I wouldn't have bought another ZZR600 anyway, why would I bother when the only difference is a shit-load less kilometres and a different colour? It was just a pity to see it suddenly drop out of the lineup.
Colette> See what happens when you enter the world of the financially encumbered to a piece of real estate...suddenly nice things like motorbikes become a luxury, not a necessity (for your sanity).
Mina> Yeah, maybe you were right, it was time.
bull shit it's time.
it just needed an update.
it was the quickest thing goin around when it came out.
best value for money bike, second only to the 9. assuming you wanna do more than just ride sports/track or anything else specific.
it's a very sad time in kawasaki history.
there may not be the market for it, but i'd love to see the entire zzr range in action.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Hey Vince, htf are you going?diesel wrote:bull shit it's time.

Yeah, but what do you do to it before you make it into a 2002/3/4 ZX-6R?
Make it lighter, update the lines, give it the 636cc donk? But still keep it low, cheap and comfortable for the new, short and those wanting a bit more of a comfortable ride rather than a road/trackweapon like the 6R(R)?
Umm, maybe it would have been easier if Kawasaki engaged in a bit of R&D from '94 onwards before realising in 2006 you have an old but loved dinosaur. Too little, too late, too hard and then too easy to start again with the ER-6 series. The ER-6n and f are nice enough bikes, but they're not a patch on the ZZR (imho, fwiw). Not that they were designed to be, different animals and evolution entirely...
i'm doin well mate.
i'm over at lending services, 120 spencer st now.
we had a fire today and had to be evacuated. lol
(its funny cos the evac went well and no-one got hurt)
i agree it's tough to improve the zzr w/o makin it a zx.
but stick to the basic idea of havin a single seat for both rider and passenger, less agressive riding position and performance. and you'll have a great all-rounder.
update the styling a bit, but not towards a hard-core racer (which is where i think the newer zzr1200s went).
think a zzr with sharp twin headlights. lower-to-the-ground ducktail, slightly sharper side fairings and a seriously trick dash. (well maybe not even that trick). and give it a slightly de-tuned 900 donk.
i'd buy ine cos i'm a commuter (which is also why the 9 is great for me)

As an aside believe there was some mention of the passing of the ZZR600 in a thread relating to the ER6f which unlike it's N counterpart is of course fullly faired and a 650 rather than a 600 and probably a shitload lighter.
I quite enjoy my ZZR600, we've done a lot of k's together but she's a heavy pig that's for sure...

I agree about the passing of the ZZR600, it was always a good honest and reliable little workhorse, that could be called upon to punch well above its weight when required......

A bloke I worked with back in the early 90's had one of the first models, I rode it quite a few times, and was *always* surprised at its performance.

Not quite, but pretty close. Tis a 650cc in-line twin:Gosling1 wrote:Mick, both models of the ER6 use *exactly* the same motor, its a 600.
Type Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin
Displacement 649 cm3
Bore and Stroke 83 x 60 mm
Compression ratio 11.3:1
Valve system DOHC, 8 valves
Fuel system Fuel injection: Ø 38 mm x 2 (Keihin)
Ignition Digital
Starting Electric
Lubrication Forced lubrication, semi-dry sump
Output a fair bit less than the 599cc in-line four in the ZZR.

Yep is the er6 that is now the entry level 600cc bike i havnt tried one but the zzr seemed to hold its own up to 190kph and really how fast do you want a road bike to go.
The zx6r or at least the 03/04 model was fairly marketed at the track sector and in reality thats the best place for them with tight geometry and short wheelbases they dont like lumps and bumps or humps and hollows on the road or the track but their a ton of fun once you get used to them.
Real world sports tourers shouldnt be designed to inflict pain upon the rider or shake their fillings out but things can be too mundane.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?
