This is a world wide issue, and will force the price of "saftey gear" through the roof. A $1000 will shoot up to $2000 just to have the approved tag. I would still like the confidence of buying gear I know will hold up in an off. Ride magazine does some great distruction tests, but not sure how much of the gear ever makes it to Aus market.

You dont need standards tags on leathers but i wouldnt mind seeing some on back protecters.

I have a set of over engineered leathers for track days and recon you could have towed the prime mover that was towing 100 trailers the other day with them.

just make sure the palms and stuff on gloves are double stiched and if you arent sure the local guy that repairs leathers can tell you all about it because he gets to see the aftermath of many offages.

If you going on road rides and your a proper launatic get leather pants like ponti says they dont have to cost a million bucks and will save a heap of skin,
otherwise go draggins there a bit cooler and take up less space in a ventura bag along your travels.

It is rather pleasing to see we all take our safety gear so seriously.

I noticed in ARR this issue, that BMW and KTM are designing a shoulder/neck brace/support thingy. KTM wants it for dirt riders, BMW wants to develop it for road riding. I am sure it will be expensive, but I can't wait to see what becomes of it. Bet it costs less than a wheel chair (unless it's a George Costanza wheel chair ).

In other, news, while I was at Bunny's yesterday getting myself some sash clamps, I found some hard shell knee protectors. There are two velcro straps, and it has a bit of padding. $13.44c and I reckon it has to be worth a go. I am going to trial them under my draggins for fit and comfort. Obviously these aren't designed with motorcycling in mind, but I reckon they would have provided all the protection Mrs Felix needed.

Pity I can't get an answer from anyone connected with Joe Rocket, either here or in the States about their knee pads. Jerks. They may make good gear, but if I can't get an answer out of them...

Ask miss cheeky i am sure she said you can get knox knee armour for dragin jeans and although i am a fan of hard armour i like a nice bit of high density foam inside it to stop the bruising.

The last time i came off I had no skin damage to speak of because i was wearing leather bottoms but i had bruising for 3 months on the hip from where i landed and the bike landed on top of me or i road it into the bitumen or whatever.

Have hip armour installed in my track gear amounst other places because you cant have too much padding.

What size is mrs felix i have a set of spare agv bottoms but am guessing mrs felix isnt built like me.

I personally would not bother with buying knee pads for jeans,this could possibly cause more damage when not secured properly.
I purchase some Rjays textile pants with knee& thigh amour design an approved in the UK about a year ago.
Recently purchased leather pants and another Jacket to match from Ebay and getting use to wearing the pants most times.

When I got my draggin' jeans in February, I also bought knee armour, which cost an extra $25, pre discount, total package $200 after discount. I didn't buy the hip armour as I figure that I already look wide enough!
I haven't really been out on any rides to warrant using the knee armour yet, btu the first decent ride I get out on I will certainly have it in.
