Thats because that is the uniform that is provided to them and they have to wear their uniform.
I heard that a lot of biker cops buy their own gear..... protective pants and stuff....

Leathers r the best option for max protection but ive come off quite a few times at speeds of 80kph and a good pair of jeans and a dririder have always kept me intact. as for pillions... my policy is if i see skin then u aint going

didnt think that would be the case. maybe they get some kickback or tax reduction.

Also heard on the very same (innacurate?) rumor mill that some copper had a pair of pants made up draggins-style that looked identical, same goes for the jacket. But in both cases they weren't allowed to wear them as they werent the *issued* uniform.

Most of the CE stuff I have looked at here, the CE only covers the armour and not the rest of the garment

seen a few R1 riders in singlets and stubby shorts, one got up on the back wheel but also decided to drop the right foot as well. looked pretty smick. just showing off in front of us Learners.

after my 50kph fall i know i'll never ride without gloves again, hand cuts are very painful and take a lot longer to heal. ive squided a few times but only on 10min trips.

i asked jase abt this once b4..they are issues 1 pair of jodphurs, 1 jacket, and 1 pair of leather pants..a lid, a helmet, and a pair of gloves....that is what they are allowed to wear. they arent allowed to wear their own gear even if they thinks its safer, cos its not the uniform...

as for squiding, i agree, its my choice to wear wot i like, sumtimes i squid, my decision....i wont let my mrs on the back if shes a squid (i use the same reason that mike uses- i dont wanna be the one telling ur dad ur dead cos u wouldnt wear the right gear) ..but then i lead by example & wear the right gear...

jase was also telling us how 1 squid can cost taxpayers like close to $1mill ...cleaning up an accident site, 10 operations and 20yrs of rehab really adds up...

A friend who is a police officer wears leathers under his jodphurs, so that he looks to be in uniform, but is protected if he comes off.
