How about this...
Perhaps it doesnt cause rot in the stitching, unless the dubbin is actually covering it for a long time.... and it is wet....
So if you dont leave heaps of it in the pores, it will cause rott, but if you rub it down properly you have not trouble?
This would explain why some people have had rott problems and others not...
Just a thought, im just guessing...

Agree 100%.....If you apply on a hot sunny day, the dubbin will 'soak' into the leathers (and stitching), and pretty well 'dry out' over a period of an hour or two...this is the reason my stitching has never rotted, the stitching is never left 'wet' or left to dry out in a dark cupboard for days...

Hence the reason you should wipe your leathers down afterwards.

You Idiot!

I read the report. You could have gone into a little more detail though Gos! I expect more lies than that from you!

I snuck out for a short one late this arvo when it was warmer. I am feeling fcuked from a flu that my wife has had for a week, and it finally nailed me on friday. So just a little squirt!

Dubbin will do the job, but it's like a zippo lighter, time has passed it by. Bees wax is what I use, have you ever seen a wet bee
I get the wax in a tube from hiking shops, its no bigger than a tube of toothpaste and is softened so it rubs in easy. The shops stock dubbin as well but serious Hikers and mountain climbers often have to tramp in the rain and walk through creeks and from all accounts the bees wax keeps it's properties longer. Perhaps because it's natural based and the dubbin is petrochemical based. I wouldnt do my jacket too often though, don't want the jacket "too" soft. the product is called sno seal.

i use ranapur leather balsum.
the only reason being is that some bird convinced me it was the shit at the bike show.
is she lying? is this crap actually any good?
I havent had leathers long enough to say what i reckon about it.
I dont care if it rots the stitching cause if the leather treatment doesnt split the stitching than my beery will eventually...
