The thing that I find amusing is, that while filling up at bp the other day, ( I love BP ultimate...) I read the ethanol sticker on the pump.

It mentioned that there may be an increase in fuel consumption, so why the hell would anyone put that gunk in their car or bike when it is the same price as ULP? Hang on let me buy something that will give me less value than normal old ulp !!!!

The really funny thing about ethanol, and adding it to petroleum distilate is that the whole process uses up heaps of inputs in the form of diesel for the tractors and trucks moving it around, and electricity for it's production. Seeing as how most electricity in this country is a product of burning coal, I really don't see how ethanol can be called "green". Added to the fact that you are going to use more ethanol blend per km you'd think the ethanol thing would be dead.

Not so.

There are farmers votes to win, and friends of the PM's to appease. Therefore we get a heap of spin doctoring around the whole debate.
