My ZZR250 used to be insured fire/theft/third party through QBE for $620
That's changed and now I have fully comp on it for $420.
I used their price match offer to change it. I got a quote from AAMI on my bike, and QBE beat it. I don't know if they are still running this offer.
I hope they are, when I upgrade to either A GSX 750 F or a ZZR 600 (or 1100 or 1200....) I hope to use this loophole to get cheaper insurance again.

I had full comp from Arista for my ZXR250 for $560 last year with 60% bonus but this year they jumped it to $680. I decided to then call around.
Shanon's was not willing to insure me because I use my bike to go to work eventhough I garage my bike all the time. I went with NRMA full comp and currently paying $356. I know that they have the same price throughout their affiliate insurance company in other states.

ok..things to consider...depending on the bike of course...
normal plugs $4 ea (approx)
iridium plugs $20 ea (approx)
rego- 250cc -$200 ish a yr??
600cc - $800 ish
(wen i was in nsw, the bike over 250cc was the same as a car. and a bike 250 or less was like $200 or less...in SA they have gradings, and i think a 600cc is abt $600 a yr??
tyres-
250- ?? maybe $200-300 a set?? 1-2 sets a year?
600cc -$400-450 a set..2-3 sets a year (i got thru 2 rears & 1 front every yron the 900..depending how much i ride)
insurance-
again depending on the bike..maybe 2-3 times more..may not be too..do ur homework on this one, it CAN bite u..
oil
250cc- $30 a 4L bottle
600cc- $40-55 a 4L bottle (u will want the BEST oil u can put in a bigger bike)
fuel- do u run PULP in ur 250?? u will in ur 600...maybe an extra $10 a week, as vin said, depending on ur riding..
gear- do u have full elathers?? a 600 will do abt 100kph MORE than a 250..so u wanna have good gear..just in case...
my 1st 2 things to consider are, select which bike ur interested in & get quotes on insurance, and the rego diff..they are gunna b a set difference...things like tyres, running costs etc will be variable depending on ur riding style, amount, weather conditions etc...
oh, and i get 24000km out of my iridium plugs before i change em (as per manufacturer handbook) whereas, standard $4 plug may get u 6-12000 km??...but theu r recommended, and very worth it..

Hidepenny - rego and insurance costs will *bite* initially, but you will get used to these pretty quickly......service costs will be a bit more of a regular pain.........but the biggest additional costs you will incur are for tyres. Those little 250's just dont *generally* wear out tyres much at all, but a good 600 will chew through them faster. Just something else to think about.........

He does occassionally surprise crap out of everybody and post something intelligent, it is just occassional though, in between Duane's bum and Mina's helmet I guess.

Well at least old mate Narfi is something of an *expert* in the field.........
And you have to respect the relationship he and Mr Yap have not only developed, but sustained over the vast distance that is Brisbane to Adelaide...
