aren't we all mate..........it was another scorcher everywhere by the looks of things bloody hell Sydney Airport peaked at 45deg, and it was still 44deg in the city at 7.00pm !!!!!!

Unusually, cooler out in the western suburbs...

*only* hit 39deg here today, should be thankful I guess.........but the sky has that real washed-out yellow/orange glow......theres fires out there somewhere, just don't know where, and jeezus they stink as well

Early this arvo it was 10 degrees cooler than it was midnight last night, down to 20 degrees and pissing down with rain.

Still walking around in shorts though, nice not to be sweating my arse off. I've had to shut all the windows though, it's bloody cold now. Grr.

I've left the pump connected though, I'm guessing yesterday was a dress-rehersal of things to come.

Hope it cools down for you guys tomorrow.

I left Ulladulla just after Noon and they said it was 44c,which I thought was closer to 48c
When I reach th F3 at approx:3pm they closed it and the Pacific Hwy as well.and the radio told me it was 47c,when I got out of the car it was 51-53c Easy FARK!! it was hot.
Anyhow I reach home around 8pm (Central Coast) it was still and smokie & around 48c with the flames on the hills close by & Elvis hovering around the houses.

Glad you made it home OK pabs, the helicopter shots on the news of the Pacific Highway looked pretty awful traffic jam for bloody miles.....

brrr, those photos send shivers up my spine........

Well. the *official* temp for ACT today was 38deg.......taken at the Airport.

Yep. On the 30th I spent 10 hours working the highway between Port Wakefield and Port Pirie. It was 49 degrees on the road between Redhill and Crystal Brook.

Riding along, it was so hot, with the visor up you could feel the wind burning your face. I'd close the visor to get some relief, only to start sweating like I was in a sauna. I'd open the visor up again and the breeze would cool me until the sweat dried up.

Went through nearly 7 litres of water and was happy to get home.

Me & kids pack some things together just in case,local firecrew told us to be ready for an evacuation that was around 11pm

We did'nt have too,but were ready,its now 10am the helicopter is still hovering around here,I know we lost a few houses here in the Umina Hills and Woy Woy bay area.
We drove around 12.30 to the safe side of bay area (heaps of people there)for a quick look last night and could see the flames about 20 foot up in the air.
Anyhow I think we were lucky and so was a lot of other people.

I saw a couple of Duc riders & one new Yami FZ tourer(light metalic blue color)in that heat in full leathers just outside south of Nowra yesterday.
I hope they were going home and not for a ride.

The F-3 and PACIFIC Highway have both been re-opened in both directions, under supervision... Of course, if you can avoid the area, please do. Woy Woy Road remains closed, along with Patonga driver. CityRail says trains should be running on the Newcastle and Central Coast lines by 1pm.

jesus H Do you use a Camelback ?? would need a 5 litre one out there.....

Nope. The problem with camelbacks is that it doesn't take long out there for the water to heat up. I carry about 3 to 4 litres of water on my bike, and stop every time I go passed a place that sells cold drinks.

If someone here can develop an airconditioned helmet I reckon you'd make a bucket load of cash. I was trying to think of a way of plugging a camelback into a helmet and getting the water to cool your head down.

OK,, this would be pretty easy. All you need is a 12v washer motor from your friendly Commodore, wired through a handlebar switch. Water feed taken from an *insulated* Camelback ( via the standard mouthpiece) ( this is also where you would mount your 12v pump motor, they are pretty small) - outlet from 12v pump up to inside of lid, via 3mm clear plastic tubing. Outlet of 3mm tubing placed directly on intake of helmet ventilation on the front.

Press the switch for a couple of seconds and bingo - cool water blasted through the ventilation / interior of your lid

Heh I better race over to the Patents office and stick a Provisional on this baby !!!

The heat would dry out the lid interior pretty quickly, there is nothing to 'rust' in new lids ?? I reckon its a goer.......

All i know was it was bloody hot saturday
put the new tyres on the 10r ..... changed the front brake lines as the LHF started weeping and washed it
Should have been in Torquay in the morning instead left Reservoir at 4pm
Thought i was hydrated ......... got to the shell at Point Cook and thought i was on fire
Heat from the road and bike was cooking me
stop and drank a 1 1/2L of water because i had stopped sweating in my leathers

got to werribee and it was like someone flicked a switch and it was cool
was cool in Torquay and rained all day sunday ...... so much for the GOR
was nice today just to many tourists .......... oh ok i was one too
great run after apollo bay though to lavers hill
