8) 8) what a great idea !! If you haven't yet organised a test ride on the z1000, you should put it straight to the top of your priority list - they are a heap of fun to ride, with a much more 'normal' riding position than your 6. I test rode one a couple of years ago, could not believe (a) how light it was and (b) how quick it was. King of the Naked bikes

cheers :D

My suggestion is yes, go an ride one then buy one, even if it is second hand, although you can't beat brand spanking new. I think they are still about 15k but with a trade etc you should be able to get that down a lot. I do a lot of commuting to work and even taken it for long stretch's down the M1 to the Gold Coast etc and its just a dream to ride.

It is one of the best bikes I have ever riden and I will never get rid of mine, even if I buy another bike. I think in a number of years they will be a classic like the original Z's.

Pics of mine are here: http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2303

If you remove the original pipes, KEEP THEM!!!!!!!

i have some holidays in the next couple of weks so i will take one for a ride and make a decision then. although my mind is definately made up about selling my bike just have to arrange a roadworthy and advertising. once sold i will walk in to kwaka wave a wad of cash in front of them and try and get a good deal on a new one before i look at 2nd handbikes.

A problem I see with a street fighter 636 is the air intake!
Mine is naked @ the moment as I'm waiting for my raceglass to be repaired & I think it looks shit hot, However I have no idea how you would fit headlights with the protruding air intake.

i had thought the same thing. maybe you could use the front end off of a z750 or z thou but it seems like to much hassle to me and i would be ruining a perfectly good bike. its easier to just buy one that came from the factory like that.

Seems like your sold on the Zed Tez, but just a coupla points in defence of the 6.
They are noted for their overly harsh rear Spring, theres a couple on here that have changed them & now sing their praises. Me included after a session on Beryl's at Darlington Park.
Also a Lambswool seat cover & a throtlle rocker (cruise control) & i reckon you'll halve your lower back problems. 8)
Finally to put a spanner right in the works, dont rule out the ZED7, very capable & a "buckets'o'fun" Scoot as well.
hth.

when i went to pick up my bike after signing a contract i saw a zthou for the first time and fell in love but couldn't afford it at the time. now there are a few 2nd hand ones around i can get the bike i want without losing to much money.if i stick it out with the zx6 i will only be going further backwards. i think now is the best time to change over.
