biggest use for running a slightly higher idle is your less likely to stall it from the lights (some people do it when they first start riding for a couple of months :-) )

If it hurts, you aren't doing it right.

OK, by running hot, I mean that he's hotter than the day before the insurance guy adjusted it.

Insurance guy: Is there anything else you've noticed riding it around the last couple days?"
Seraph: Yeah, Zed's stalling when hot, never did that before my off.
Insurance guy: I'll just shift your idle from a bit above 1100 to a bit above 1500
Seraph: Thanks, buddy.

... and now Zed is running a little hot... but incidently, not stalling :D Rather than sitting around half way when I do city traffic runs (I just moved back to spring hill - goddamn all those red lights!) the guage is around 2/3... So... should I adjust the idle setting down a bit, say to 1300ish?
the sweet things don't stick around but the bullshit lasts forever

you might as well ... you can always put it back up again if it goes back to stalling a lot.

i noticed that mine tends to go up and down 100 rpm or so when its idling. is that ok? i used to have my idle set at about 1000rpm but now i've put it up to 1300. is there any reason not to have it at 1000?

From my experience, it could stall after quickly opening and closing the throttle if the idle is too low (I guess the engine slightly floods), or on a cooler day it might idle very rough.
