I get leaded avgas from bankstown every month or so, leaded fuel in modern 4 strokes doesn't work and as far as I knew avgas has lead.....

In the 80's they started getting rid of the leaded avgas ,they then went to LOW LEAD which looked a blue colour other than the green original colour of the high lead. These days its imposible to get any leaded fueles in this country,Ps You can't even get MR12 which has lead and air rated.[/quote]
I must be a magician cause I have over 60+ litres of leaded avgas in my shed because I use it in my gp 2 stroke bikes, but I guess I wouldn't know.......

Leaded pass books were the go when I was buying it for racing a few years back but I think it all got too hard..... that system might not be used anymore, I used to order BP100 from a local servo & they would have it in next day for me, they had heaps of boat racers in the area & their older classes used leaded fuel so it was easy to get, just had to shop around for the BP's that could be bothered to get it in when I moved from the area.
I use methanol in the race bikes now as I can get it from heaps of places & its 1/3 the price of leaded.

Greeny - as per the thread on CanberraRIDERS, don't run leaded Avgas in your 6 mate. It will fuck the cat immediately. The use of leaded fuels in late-model sports bikes is just not a good idea.

Maximus - what's the go with the agro ? Avgas - at least the BP stuff I buy - is definitely leaded and can't be sold to just anyone - you have to prove membership of a club that races Historic classes, at least for bike racing. My local BP outlet now only sells it by the pallet-load, which is a massive pain in the arse - but they still sell it, and it is definitely still leaded.

Even the current MA bible refers to the use of leaded fuels.....

There are a couple of Victorian members who both work in the fuel game and would know the answer to this question stat. I think I might just pm them both and get their views here.

BP100 racing fuel is Avgas without the colour or certification. BP Avgas is the blue Low Lead - although there are states still making green avgas, but is low lead anyway (they are in the process of converting QLD to blue, but the fuel blend remains the same).
