This is probably the single biggest improvement you can make, regardless of the lines. If the lines are only a few years old they will still work OK, just not give the same sort of *crisp* feel you get with braided lines. I fitted a 19mm radial m/c to my 12 a few years ago - fantastic improvement over the OEM m/c. Already had braided lines fitted.Mickwitchy wrote:.....Is it worth doing with stock brake lines? You can use any radial m/c that fits - I used a Gixxer 600/750 m/c, think it was an 07 model ?? Ebay is the place to look for bargains, especially US.

The biggest factor with all this stuff (like tires) is that everyone has a different opinion. Some say ebcHH where others will say they are crap.
Get the info and try a couple that may suit you

Russ - I think Mick is talking about a new m/c, not the pads. Mick - check the size of the m?c on your bike. It will have 14mm or 5/8" cast into the body, generally underneath.
*Any* other m/c that has a larger bore - ie 19mm or 3/4" - is going to be better than your stock one. That is exactly why I just grabbed the cheapest one on ebay that I found. It does not have to be a kawasaki m/c at all. Could be Yammie or Honda etc - there are different designs which suit some bikes better than others in terms of fit and clearance to fairings etc - you either need to check out a local wrecker and have a look at a few - or just take a punt

Just do the fluid to start with. 1 mod at a time to feel the difference. If your regularly at the track braided lines will help. Not sure about the abs as Ive never owned or ridden with it. I havent read anywhere anyone needing to replace the MC in the current zx10
I could be wrong and sure someone will arc up if I am

But a bigger bore m/c won't hurt it. Pushes more fluid

True but whats the go with the current 10? Thought the setup was meant to be pretty good? Bigger MC wont hurt but is it necessary just yet? The bike is still completely OEM.

Dunno how you guys figure that a larger master cylinder gives more pressure. It's the exact opposite. Small master gives greater pressure but travels further feels spungier can create less confidence due to travel but can give a more finite brake point......large master gives less pressure and travels less distance feels harder gives greater confidence but harder to find the finite brake point.
I live with fear everyday but on weekends she lets me ride.

Tack, I think on the older 10's the extra fluid helped disguise the issue with the calipers. But on the current 10 is it an issue?

I'm not saying that it is an issue on this bike. I'm just saying that larger bore master doesn't give more pressure.

Not really, some race bikes are using the brembo, but while using a bigger piston it also adjusts the ratio, so kills both birds. I think you may be hung up on the word 'pressure'
Larger bore, moves a greater amount of fluid thus reducing the lever travel to braking point. I simply meant, more fluid, more force = greater pressure
