thats probably worth more than any discount mate.....

heh so what is the go with the advancer ? Did it make enough difference to justify the cost ? I will be doing a major service on the MFP12 mid-year, and wouldn't mind adding some more go-fast bits. If you reckon it is worth the coin, I will do this mod as well......the MFP12 is a 2005 ZX12R, got a good zorst (highly modified OEM header pipes, Yoshi collector, shortened Yoshi can, PCIII, secondary flies out, 1/5 quickturn throttle, BMC filters (road), 17t front sprocket - thats about all I think.....it put out around 155hp on a cranky dyno a few years ago ? but the curve is very smooth.

Bum dyno confirms it was well worth it, it's a different bike, I suspect there'd be a real danger of looping it now

The static advancer was almost spot on according to the dyno operator, he was even able to advance it further in some places. Makes you wonder if a bit of timing retard was one of the nerfs when they first released it. I do use exclusively 98 octane though.

Mine managed something like 172 on BikeBiz' dyno, that was up from 142 stock. Went from 142 -> 162 for the full system, 162 -> 172 with timing advance. 8) Not bad for $39. Note some of that gain was likely fixing the previous rich tune (bet they tuned it without the kleen blocked)

I have no idea where the happy dynos are... all these yanks reckon 12's are north of 160 stock.

In other news still chasing the headlight problem... everyone reckons it's the relay so I bought a new second-hand junction box and swapped it over. Cross fingers that's licked.

Just the standard Halogen 12V 55/60W.

Guess I'll try replacing them, check the stator plug, see if I can find some cheap reg/rect then stator. Glenn reckons he checked those though, so f*ck knows.

I just hope it's not wiring because I've checked, double checked and triple checked, and so have 2 mechanics. I've done the wiggle test on every wire and connector on the bike without luck. The ONLY time it happens is when it's good and warm, and under hard acceleration.

Great bike but jeez this little issue is frustrating.

The theory I heard was they retard them to meet emission laws.

The other thing is, it's only the headlights, and according to the missus - who was watching on the way up the coast this morning, not the city light. Both headlights always go together, and they always come back again within seconds.

Was able to replicate the problem fairly consistently by just getting hard on the gas at moderate revs.

its sounds very strange to me,generally if its a reg rect it will want to break down first and dim lights ? I highly dowt its a wiring issue as the latter 12R had all those prob's fixed .If you have a voltage meter just set it up on the bike and have it in your view so you can see if there is a voltage loss when the problem accer's .It will be the best bet for the start of your diagnostic's of the problem.Edit it could also be a faulty battery i have seen some weird sh!t happen in my time.
