Rev (floppy ears) and Jemma
We had to give Jemma away due to behavioural issues (was told to by Rob Zammet as Jus was pregnant) and Rev died aged 5 with a liver disease - he was a terrific dog, best I've ever known.. it was very, very sad....

Re: Show us your Puppies !!!!!
They aren't the most trainable breed in the world, so being big you need something that will help control them while they learn to walk to heel. We've found the Halti to work the best, plus it's easier to hold them when they see something they want to chase and forget any training they've had.MIZ RX3 wrote:Reminds me to ask, What are they like to walk - We're still on the hunt for a breed...MickLC wrote:
Also because they are a sighthound, you can't walk them off lead unless it's a closed area...they see something run they're going to chase it and ask questions later, right in front of a car if that's what it takes. Amazing to see them chase things together though, they work as a team by instinct and are seriously farking fast

The only other things I can think of is they get at least 20-30 minutes walk every day, but a couple of days they get a good hour run around at a dog run after which they sleep the rest of the day. They will need a bit of room to run in the yard too as they get a bit of speed up and will just bash into anything in their way. The last thing is be prepared for people to come up and ask about them and want to pat them...there aren't many around so they are a novelty to most people who haven't seen a really big dog before.
So yeah, they aren't a beginners dog, but I guess you already knew that, plus be prepared to say goodbye to them after 9 or so years as the big, old breeds don't live so long

Re: Show us your Puppies !!!!!
ld haveJoy has had dogs and cats all her life, but this is the first one for me
What a great experience, a complete celebration very day
I also didn't know that 40% of autralians have a dog (that's registered of course)
which means, that together with all the other pets more than one in two has a pet in OZ.
That's hard to believe, but it's a fact.
HUGO is shih tzu, but we keep him clipped. His fur is non shedding and non allergenic, loves his walks, very social with all dogs and people, loves being close to us, so we "tolerate" him
