I'd be in for the Brissie ride. The pink ribbon ride here was excellent, and is a great model to go by, like Neka suggested. Maybe you could contact WIMA to get ideas on how to run it (what to do and what not to do).
Would even pitch in to help - marking corners or whatever.
Cheers

This is a great idea, I'll help with the organising as I dont know whether I'd be able to actually do the ride (lack of bike for the mo, kids etc) but I wanna be involved.
Maybe help with the advertising, ribbons etc, sending out sponsor forms for the riders.

Sounds like a good idea, maybe an entry fee could be used to raise funds instead of pledges from others for KM's done, I'll be in it could be good fun.

entry fee, quite feasable. a putty run or something else of decent distance (minimum of 400kms perhaps?) with an entry fee for that run of say $20-40 or something. hell i'd be happy pay at least 20 if i wanted to go on one of these.
I'd get to ride & tell my girlfriend im off to help a charity for a day

I am in for sure and can spread the word amongst the B.A. gang.
I am also happy to offer assitance in planning and execution.
Don't worry about the level of interest, I think bikers are always keen to rasie public opinion and awareness, so there should be plenty of takers.

I did something similar in january but for the Tsunami Victims. Got quite a few resposes but on the day we got a freak storm!! Just our bad luck... Could only raise $500 but we had around 50 cars. No bikes cause of the rain but I can give you my contacts if you are interested. We had over 200 bikes/cars confirmed till the rain came down
here is the site I set up for our run:
http://www.appeals-on-wheels.com
I can change it and lend the name for this cause if you'd like. I own the domain and its got a catchy ring to it (or so I think, also makes it easy to advertise).
Regards,
Kieran (10R)

re: KSRC Charity Drive - Level of Interest?
Back from Washington DC - what an odd place! But met a fellow 636 rider at the airport - he wanted the KSRC t-shirt I was wearing.
Thanks for all the offers of help; so many to mention, but I'll take them all up. Photomike, looks like you'll be the media liaison officer!
Robyn, samhasa, Collette and Zombie - all help welcome. I'm meeting the charity on Saturday and will get more detail and post it separately.
Good idea about the state rides, neka - and all makes can be involved of course! Kypez - great web page, thanks for the offer! Mike-s, a Putty Run would be great - get some media coverage at Hunter valley (Wollombi pub?)
Hemiduty, the 3/100 was part of an Autism Association campaign some years back. They now say 1/100 people are affected (which includes the impact on family) but the figures are 'officially' 65 in 10,000. However, since we don't gather the stats in this country (!) this is a guess, and estimates by support groups (like the one approaching me) puts it a lot higher, say double that.
Finally, yes, this is totally tax deductible.
Will mail soon - thanks again for the interest!
