I will be watching like a hawk mate, doing the same thing on mine shortly.

Akra shorty and link pipe (it might be too loud actually)

Re: The Build up Continues... More New Pics..!!
Hey all,
I am back with a few new pictures.. I now have the race glass painted and have a couple of stickers on it.. It is so glossy that it is very hard to photograph..
but you will get the idea. I am waiting on the rearsets, will get them next week, then I will concentrate on the exhaust..
But I am currently running this system with the Leo Vince Link PIpe, which totally removed the cat box and allows the stock heat shield to be fitted.. It looks great, and seriously I dont mind the look of the stock pipe. I know what you all will be saying
but it looks better than most stock pipes. With this system it is basically a straight through performance system, sounds great and is a definite improvement on stock.
All other track mods have been done to date.. and it has had it's first track day.. I just thought I would share the new pics..

Re: The Build up Continues... New Updated Pics !!
Thanks for the approval on the pipe Russ..!! I think it really suits the bike.. (most of my mates are shit canning the look..??)
It is probably the best pipe that Kawasaki have made, and they have done their homework making it a short straight through model.. I have had the carbon one fitted, and it is definitely a bit louder and deeper.. the current system does have a sort of 'metalic' ring to it, but when gassed up it sounds great...
And I wanted to match the look of the stock bike as well.. so extra colour wasn't an option.. but I am sure a few stickers will make their way on there to colour it up a bit..
Cant wait to get the rearsets on.. and go from there.. Looking at a set of 'Speigler' front brake lines as well.. I have all Winter to get it finished.. Might make it up to Eastern Creek in August at this stage.. work committments permitting..

You certainly present a good bike Macca, looks fantastic. Very sharp!
Performance wise, how does the 2011 compare to the 2005?
Given I used to have an 05 model, I'm interested in how and where they have improved.
Cheers.

Haven't ridden a 2011 YET, but whilst the crim was snappy and brutal even the Gumby would be faster than the crim and then the bug is faster and lighter again.

Re: The Build up Continues... New Updated Pics !!
I have never owned a crim, but have ridden them a few times on the road and the track.. I must admit I never really felt that confident on it, most probably because I was riding a mates bike..!! But very aggressive bike..
Then I have had the Gumby, well actually 2 of them, a road and track bike.. I liked them, but this model lacked something.. and it looked a bit fat and round..?? Still at that time I thought it was the best..
Then I had 2 Bugs.. and loved them more.. they felt so much lighter and powerful.. I was faster immediately on the track on the bug... Had them for nearly 3 years... So I though that they where the best..
Now I have the 2011, and it is totally different to all of the above.. it feels way lighter, even just wheeling it around, but we all know it is not that much lighter, it is just where the weight is carried.. so a big plus there. The gearbox is silky smooth, and when on the gas, clutchless changes are just like an auto with no lag at all.. different gearbox ratio's mean a linear accelleration from start to finish, with that Kawasaki head rush up the top...
Very responsive and easy to turn in, drops on it's side very quickly and I always felt very stable.. first track day left me smiling every session with that feeling "yes I did the right think buying this model" I know I will be faster and more controlled on this bike.. Overall some parts of the new styling take a bit to get used to, but in 6 months we will all look back at the bug and say how old it looks..??
Personally I am into it already and love the look.. even the stock pipe.. which is a first for me.. that is normally the first thing to go..
At this stage I cannot say anything negative about this bike.. Kawasaki are heading in the right direction, as can be seen in the WSBK.. give them another year to get things sorted and they will be the top 5 all the time with the right riders...

Re: The Build up Continues... New Updated Pics !!
Yes Russ, that part is a very weird feeling...
I did it on purpose last track day, even though I was only taking it easy.. I selected 'full power' mode and then 'full traction'.. which is really an odd setting, but I just wanted to feel it for myself.. and just opened up the throttle on the exit of Siberia partially leaned over.. sort of nervous but rolled the throttle on...
So all of a sudden the bike feels like it is vibrating from below.. the bar graph on the dash is going up and down and you can clearly see this..showing that the traction control was kicking in.. it was like riding over corrugations.. and also the engine was sort of stuttering, but still moving forward.. hard to explain, but I kept the momentum going..
I have to try it really leaned over.. and trust it.. or so they say..??
