Regarding the width, bring your measuring tape to Eastern Creek tomorrow... you'll be surprised!
Based off watching one get ground by a B grade racer when marshaling for Moto Concepts ;)

What is the point of a Busa or zx12r trackbike, if any?

EXACTLY....if your that into track riding, why ride something thats big & heavy..(compared to say a 600).
If i was going to ride a lot of track days, i wouldn't be riding one of them around there...go get a trackbike that will be fun & agile,i'm sure you'll have more fun.
:kuda:

oh yeh...go the 12 :D
Ofcourse its....... "black"

Why a Busa trackbike?
Fun!

I never set out to break laptime records. I will never have the skill to do that. I rode my Busa on the road, track and drags for 6 years and eventually decided to do something different... track bike!

Why compare the 12 to the Busa 11 years later?
(a) I like them both
(b) I've ridden both
(c) I've mostly heard biased views from other Busa owners
(d) I finally joined the Kawa club
(e) a few have aready put shit on me here for having a Busa track bike (none of whom, may I add, has ridden one on a track) - though one ("expert" ) actually saw one on a track

I'm not fishing for a big argument... though the "rednecks" will be "rednecks"... not much one can do about that...

I've ridden neither, but love how passionate those who own either one are :)

If you are heavy & have not set the suspension for track work..... a scrape could be the outcome...
& I am no expert  but around 2002 it was pretty rare to see one at a track so there was allot of interest in the bussa that day, including it scraping the fairing, I do believe what I saw... no flaming, no shit being put on you..... just telling you of this experience thats all :D

none really.....
taking one onto a racetrack is a waste of time money and rubber
I did a trackday at PI with the 12...it wore out both sets of tyres
left lonnnng black marks out of corners and used nearly 3 tankfuls
it was a pig going into T1 its weight (braking from around $2.50)
just makes it unpleasant....a 12R is not a bike for a racetrack
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Hmm i have only one experience with a zx12 and it was on a group ride on the oxley this guy was nearly 60 and he was using all the tyre and Nobody could keep up like he was stupid fast around corners, guys who actually race and had gsxr 1000's & cbr 1000's couldn't keep up, it was even funnier cause he had three massive luggage things attached to it now that would look funny on a track day, just goes to show it dosen't really matter what it is its how you ride it.

This thread is Ticking along nicely..... Thanks Pan for a fling down memory lane and igniting that fire, there is nothing better than a hyperbike debate :D

So far no 12R owners seem upset and no Busa'a have been hurt ;)

And it is good to see the Kawasaki loyalty is alive and feisty

I wonder how many here actually followed the "war" post by post world wide from 2000 onwards between these two bikes like it was important?

Well it was important to have fastest prod bike at least back then and it was unbelievable in hindsight

BB's are so old skool nearly as old as ZZR's and rex's, I thought TLS's were the real Busa killers behind the ZRX :kuda:
