Re: Where to buy a Tacho in Aus
I'd better learn how to weld (and then learn to weld alloy), or perhaps get the tap & die kit out and put a bolt on the lock stop....

Re: Where to buy a Tacho in Aus
Got a message from the people at Vector, it will not run on the stock wiring loom, has to use its own sensors. Seems a bit redundant when the bike already has them...

Re: Where to buy a Tacho in Aus
Got the one from the UK posted to my parents (for £5 postage), who will then forward it to me for a sensible cost. Will do a race dash when I get more serious.

Mate, give extreme creations a call if you are still looking for a tacho. They have some good digital tachos that are fully adjustable and can be intregrated into almost any machine.

I've found full race dash for $600+, and I've found small after market tachs overseas for reasonable price with extortional postage. Local wreckers wanted to sell me the tach unit our of an RGV dash for $150, but the 2 stroke lectrics need bodging for a 4 stroke.
Anyone know of an honest Aus supplier - needs to allow revs upto 15k?
UK site here shows what I'm after. £44 for the Tacho and £85 for postage, yes $85AUD for the tacho and a staggering $160AUD postage!!!!!
I bought one from a Go-Kart race shop a few years back. I've never used it!!!! It's still in it's packaging. If I can find it Mike, we can work something out with it. Otherwise, just go to any old kart shop and you should be able to find one!!! The one I bought has adjustments for 1-2-4 cyclinders etc., so it will fit anything pretty much.

Re: Where to buy a Tacho in Aus
Got the nice silver tacho from UK yesterday, fitted it to the bike and did a temp job on the wiring. Got a shock when I started it though, it seems to read at double the RPM! A quick ride up and down confirmed this! All I have done is solder the end of the wires and poke them into the connector that ran the stock dash. Yes, I checked with the manual to ensure I connected the wires to the correct pins. So the question is, have I got the wrong Tacho (it says 4 stroke on the box), or should I try wiring direct to a coil?

Re: Where to buy a Tacho in Aus
Sounds like it needs to be wired to a lead rather than a coil or the ignition circuit Mike. Or at least to a single Cylinder's ignition circuit. It sounds like it is reading more sparks than it should mike!!
