rasumadu wrote:thanks for the info and advice Phil & Mike. Tim, i only have to be on my L's for a minimum of 3 months and then P's for 12 months, but i have made up my mind that it would be in my best interest to stay on the L's for as long as it takes for my technique and awareness to be perfect for the P's assessment. i'm happy to listen to both sides of the argument. what advantages/disadvantages would there b in jumping from the 2 to a 4? what to look out for when inspecting possible bikes to purchase?
Three months on your l's is plenty of time to develop the basic neccessary skills needed for your p's. If in doubt however, I recommend coming up on a couple Sunday runs with the crew. The fellas will be happy to help you out with improving all aspects of your riding, like they helped me. Furthermore, it may well be worth looking at a Stay Upright course.

As for the ZX-2R, most of them have been thrashed to shit. The Ninja 250 is a great learner bike. The power isn't as beefy as the ZX but you can really push them through the twisties. Besides you only need to have it for a year before you can upgrade to something meaner
