Bad day at work...... mis-understood the theme of your questions and answers throughout the whole thread.

Most of what you asked is in the tech specs above, but to answer the rest

Yes, I own one or I wouldn't be posting in the thread ;)

It's supplied with a 12v lead with a cigarette lighter fitting, I made a lead up which plugs in to my trickle battery charger point

No, they aren't waterproof, but a ziplock sandwich bag would take care of that - however, I don't ride fast enough to need it when it's raining ;)

It comes with a small suction adaptor - sticks under the screen OK.

Visual alarm is the red light on the top of the unit - Audible, I used a bluetooth adaptor plugged in to the external speaker point, linked to a bluetooth earpiece inside my helmet.

I can honestly say, that I bought it in a fit of pique after getting pinged for 3k's over the limit, tried it out on the bike & in the car. I was then informed by my bro-in-law ( a serving officer) of what the penalty was if I was caught with it----- being the pussy that I am, I put it back in it's box and forgot about it until I saw this post

Your not a Pussy mate, the only way i would use one is if i can hide it. I am going to keep looking until i find one small enough to hide on the bike and waterproof. They must be out there somewhere ?? Thanks for the info.

I didn't bother reading this whole thread so I don't know if it has been mentioned, but if you hide one on your bike you will need to access it to turn it off and on or mount a separate switch on the dash....... reason being the coppers have radar detecor, detectors, and whilst it is tuned on they might not be able to see it hidden, but they will know you have it....... I had one years ago and really they are not worth the money or the risk of getting caught with one... They only pick up the radar just before or at the same time the radar has you anyway... Get a UHF radio and talk to the truckies, they tell where the coppers are miles before you get to them.....

Not true with this one, it can't be detected by the Federalies and the guy i spoke to said that the absolute worse case scenario would be in heavy traffic and you would still get a 300meter warning before the radar hits you (not before the radar itself). I suppose thats why they are $2000. He went on to say that if i did not live in QLD i would not have to spend so much because the radar system in other states is not as hard to detect as the one here. As i said earlier don't ask me for the technical information because most of it went over my head, but it would be interesting if someone else rang them and we got a second opinion. PH 08 94149045.

Righto,
My last posting on this subject,
Hiding it will not do you a scrap of good,
If you have one and get pinged by radar, your natural reaction is to hit the brakes - 2 things then give you away,
if the radar is behind you, the officer sees your brake light flash on - if in front he sees your headlight dive.
The police have been given the powers to remove your bike/car to the local pound where if suspicion is good enough, they first ask you to tell them where it is, dent having one and they will strip the car/ bike to find the offending unit.
$100 + postage and it's yours :D

Well thats the chance you take but, i have hit the brakes a lot of times in my life when i have seen a radar and i have never had the bike or car stripped and or searched and i don't know anyone who has, so i for one would take the chance. Are you sure your not a Cop. :D Anyway, i don't really want advice about whether or not i should or shouldn't buy one, i just want to know which one works and hopefully someone else that has some interest in this thread will make a phone call to the company i rang and give us their opinion as well.

Almost every post of yours in this thread is trying to get people to call the company and ask questions about the product. You did post a reply to Rossi which says you aren't trying to advertise the product and just want to find one that works, but surely you can see why it looks like you're trying to advertise it - with your constant "Call now!" posts? In your OP, you asked what people think of these radar detectors. People told you (mostly about radar detectors in general). You then told people numerous times to call the company and check it out in response to people telling you what they thought. Now you only want people to tell you if this particular product works or not.
I'm sure if anyone is interested in this product, they'll call the company - you've provided plenty of info for people to do that.

Why do you keep urging people to call the company??? It's kinda odd. I mean, say I posted "I called the company and they told me it's awesome because it can do "blah blah blah" and the cops won't catch you because of the unique "blah-de-blah gizmo" it has", what then? Will you then buy it because some random person on the internet repeated to you what the company told them? Or are you hoping someone with inside info on how cop radars work, and inside info on how this one particular product works can evaluate whether or not this product is perfect for you? And even if there was some person who had this in-depth, technical knowledge of both police radars, police radar detectors and this particular radar detector, and they posted to ksrc, and they were happy to share that inside info on a public forum, how would you evaluate that? How would you know it wasn't some random person on the internet, posting bullshit?

I think you're going to have to evaluate the product yourself and make your own call. Hope the court case goes in your favour!

I didn't read all of your post but it sounds like you are a bit paranoid, no i don't need anyone to do the research. I just don't understand the technicalities of the system and people were asking me about it so i said ring them yourself. I would be interested in what someone else thought, thats all. I don't want to think about all of your question, it's just too involved for me.

Peter wrote:If you read my post properly you will see that it says the unit does detect hand held camera's. Also, if you take the time to call them yourself then maybe they can answer your technical questions that i cannot explain. It is a good point you made about the unit not being weather proof, they certainly overlooked something there. As far as it being stolen is concerned, i would not be too worried if i could hide it somewhere out of sight.
And where exactly would you "hide it somewhere out of sight" on a naked Zed ?

I said Case Closed!

....actually I was thinking the same thing, but my brain hurts and I just can't be stuffed concentrating any more. I can't be arsed ringing the manufacturer either as I really don't give a shite.

Mate I poop on parties all the time. It's part of being old and cranky.

The upshot of the last 30 posts is:

1. Buy a radar detector, they are expensive but really really good.
2. Don't complain if you get sprung and get fined a shitload.
3. Don't complain if they are not actually really really good and all they do is tell you you've just, as in just right-now, been sprung doing something very naughty.
4. Get someone else to install it, then they can worry about hiding the effing thing.
5. Rossi has one really cheap, BUY IT NOW!

CASE CLOSED I say!

Mick
