dont the cbr calipers come with spacers??

the dodgy Hondas came from factory with the silver spacer. looks a bit ghey for a factory job. but more than good enough for trackies

Well, they do if you buy them that way, but when you're buying off e-bay ...

Apparently the spacers are available as new parts from Mr H, but when I can make it myself I'm tight as a fish's bum.

brian I might go the cbr calipers. Did you price the spacers up by any chance ??

I have a brembo and zx14 calipers and I would tend to agree with you. On warm days I love it but in winter the tyres are never hot enough and if you grab the brakes the front just locks. The feeling is ok to me. I'm running the standard zx14 pads. But yeah there is no little bit of breaking unless you use the weight of your fingers only.

I didn't, sorry, but if memory serves, on the 10r.net site they were talking somethinglike USD 5-10 each, so not an awful lot.

I thought you would only need the spacer on the cbr, as they have a larger disc dont they?? therefore they should bolt straight up without spacer to ZX10/12 etc

nah the doofus' at Honda thought silver spacers on black for legs and black caluipers would look cool

I'm glad you posted this mate - when I circulated the air in your tyres while you were sunning it up in Hawaii.... - I noticed that the brakes on your Crim had a very 'wooden' feel to them. They worked fine, no doubt about it - but felt to me like they needed more lever pressure to get anything happening - and when it did happen, it was very quick. The 'feel' back through the lever was almost non-existant ??

You need to take the MFP12 for a spin. The radial m/c I have on that is from a Gixxer 600, and it has improved the brakes a lot, over the stock 12 m/c. Having said that, I could still get some brake fade at Oran Park at the last trackday......but the 'feel' from this set-up is vastly different to yours. I can feel *exactly* what the brakes are doing, to the point of lock-ups at will - or just 'chirping' the front end over bumps (accidentally of course.... ) I don't think I could get that same feeling with the set-up on your bike ??

I think the Brembo m/c has a lot to do with this . Even thought its recognised as *the best* in the business.....

with the brembo you dont really need the Nissins, and vice versa. my brakes were very touchy, but i loved it. depends on what your used to.

i rode the hypermotard with brembo's on it, and got back on the 10 and almost went over the bars

Makes sense, except that presumes the mounting attachements on the CBR legs are the same as the 10-14. NFI why, but the 5mm spacers are definitely required on my 07 (300mm discs standard ?)

Wattie, i think you are right, the brembo and the nissin's are overkill. Going back to the stock 10mc and see how that feels, if thats no good, i will have some nissin calipers for sale...............

I would still keep the nissin's and sell the brembo mc, the nissin's are much easier to bleed with the banjo at the top of the caliper compared to the middle.
