If it happens on a 9, just click it into gear and with the clutch lever out, press the start button and hold it until the fuel pump stops ticking, click back into neutral and start. Will start just like normal then. Not sure if the 250 uses a fuel pump or gravity feed, if it's gravity fed, disregard what I said :D .

Dont know about jerking but never EVER mono a late model ZX12R with the fuel light on, it will get to 45 degrees and cut out, then when the front crashes down, just after your head hits the screen and your balls the tank, it will kangaroo back up as the fuel goes below pick up level and the whole shebang starts again. Quite amusing for anyone else.

2fiddy has vacuum on the fuel tap/pump........and a some what dodgy primary /reserve tap due to age...that can be turned past either of these to a position almost "OFF" which it isn't supposed to have.........but opening the filler cap and starring vacantly into the tank occassionaly will tell you more about the level of your fuel......you'll get around 20km out of the tank when you switch to reserve
