Re: struggling to come to grips all of a sudden
naaa give yourself more credit Owen we have seen you carve it up before, so it looks like it might be getting used to the bike then? & my comment about wattie was not meaning he is putting the pressure on or anything ... as I was not there, but based off previous rides with the trainer he can sometimes leave you wondering about how fast is fast? I can ride relatively fast at the track but tend to be more cautious on the road..... you would know this Owen.... then add to the equation another rider that will step it up a bit, so do you challenge your normal perceived riding abilities or do you look at it as you being less skilful? mate its a hard one & only time will tell with a few more putty rides .... get it in ya!.... BTW we doing the 3rd Friday?Six Addict wrote:i do know the road pretty well wattman, maybe not as well as some,

yeah maybe it just was the wattman having a slightly higher pace, yourself and cath tend to be good markers for me on the road...if im around your pace then i know im going ok...robracer wrote:naaa give yourself more credit Owen we have seen you carve it up before, so it looks like it might be getting used to the bike then? & my comment about wattie was not meaning he is putting the pressure on or anything ... as I was not there, but based off previous rides with the trainer he can sometimes leave you wondering about how fast is fast? I have found that some days I just ride better than others... You might have just had an off day...

Re: struggling to come to grips all of a sudden
You've gone from a 250 to a 600? That's alot more rorating mass, which makes it a lot harder to turn in. You're used to turning in a low slung light weight bike, which falls over really easy, now you've added some 40+Kg with a higher center of gravity.
Take your time, get used to the bike and work on your body position. You'll have to rely on counter steer rather than body weight to turn in, but it'll happen.
In other words, you're going to have to ride more. Shame that....

Take your time, get used a full mongrel now you are riding a 600 and work on your body position. You'll have to rely on counter steer rather than body weight to slip in, but it'll happen.

+1 to both the above. Do what you like on the track but if road conditions dictate doing 25 around a 25 posted corner just do that, and see what happens at the next one. Play it safe mate you don't win any prizes for getting anywhere first on the road, do whatever you can to enjoy it and leave a safety margin.the kid wrote:Recognising when you are not in your groove and not forcing yourself will help keep things safe.
