Bugger! That really sucks. (At least you weren't on it I guess
)

Re: bye bye bike
Presuming you're insured (you still haven't said) I wouldn't even bother with ringing the bus company, just ring your Insurance company with all the witness details and let them sort it out, check your policy, it'll probably say your entitled to a new bike anyway given its age!

Re: bye bye bike
Listen to the man, also, failing having comprehensive, do you have 3rd party property? if so, you'll be covered up to a cost of 5k or so for damage to your vehicle, which would cover replacing plastics, muffler, seat, indicators, tank (if god forbid that got scratched) and a host of other things. But you wouldn't have a "new bike" clause in your policy if it was just 3pp.ducati_paul wrote:Presuming you're insured (you still haven't said) I wouldn't even bother with ringing the bus company, just ring your Insurance company with all the witness details and let them sort it out, check your policy, it'll probably say your entitled to a new bike anyway given its age!

On a lighter note, shez...... next time their bus is up there, maybe you could arrange for a couple of elephants and maybe a rhino or two to just casually walk into it ???

I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..

You sure bout that Mike, I was always of the impression "Third Party Property" is for the damage your bike causes to others......mike-s wrote:Listen to the man, also, failing having comprehensive, do you have 3rd party property? if so, you'll be covered up to a cost of 5k or so for damage to your vehicle, which would cover replacing plastics, muffler, seat, indicators, tank (if god forbid that got scratched) and a host of other things. This also extends to if you have someones details and they refuse to cover damage to your vehicle via their insurer. Also r.e. "no parking area", its a private carpark so it shouldn't matter if "no parking" was specified or not, the twit in the bus still didn't take due care and hit his bike.NRMA Car Insurance wrote:: Third Party Property Damage Insurance
NRMA car insurance's third party property damage insurance policy covers damages to other person's car or property but doesn't cover damages to your own car. The policy also provides you with uninsured motorist damage cover in an event that a car accident is the fault of uninsured motorist and you have their details.
I've made a claim like that in the past myself and as the at-fault party wasn't covered by insurance (drunk driver turning right at a set of lights taking out 2 other cars & then rolling into MY stationary car and causing about a grand in damage), even if the guy's insurance wasn't voided i would still have made a claim through my insurance as a not at fault accident and it would have been sorted out.

apart from the incorrect sex, that statements is correct =)
And for the record i don't have comprehensive insurance, it was going to cost me $5 thou a year to comp. insure it, LUCKY it wasnt my fault. As far as i know the bus company is insured (what bus company wouldnt be) and they are aware that they are at fault. Will be finding out the finer details tomorrow.
It will be bye bye old bike and hello new bike!!
