Those who have had friends or relatives go through this, or perhaps those who are in the medical profession will know exactly what I am going through right now. PAIN!!! I am once again on some pretty heavy duty pain killers to try and get me through this week. An ultrasound is booked for Friday when I get back to Melbourne (away with work again) and most likely I will be in horspiddle a few days later, either removing the stones or removing the gall bladder!
my commiserations mate
I know what it feels like...bout 10 years ago had TWO gallstones removed (both the size of large grapes)
plus the gallbladder (infected) and not by keyhole surgery either

mind you ...a 12" belly scar is a talking point on a beach

that op came after a month or more of hospital admissions, endoscopies and ultrasounds
my thoracic surgeon as he was upping the morphine dose had great pleasure in telling
me that gallstones (and kidney stones) are MORE painful than childbirth.
The only problem he said is there is no pleasure in starting a gallstone ...unlike childbirth

smartarse git he was...I was in too much pain to larf
20mg/l of morphine was not much help...40 milligram was WONDERFUL

good luck
and get better
cheers

Yeah I hear ya Smitty. In 01 I went through a similiar thing with my pancreas which left me with a 10" scar! When I awoke from the operation there wasn't enough morphene in the world to mask the pain, so I am hoping I can get away with Keyhole this time! Knowing luck lately though, it'll prolly end up a bigen!!Smitty wrote:

hope you like porridge (or anything with oats)
coz
as I found out apparently its the go to get you going again

also you need to know the medical stuff coz it helps when looking at ya sheet by the bed

did you know you are lithogenic?
so you have a cholelith and are suffering from cholelithiasis
you hope the hell you don't have cholecystitis
and the 12" comes from the cholecystectomy
finally ask if they will keep them for you..the gallstones that is

gotta have something to show for the pain
hope it goes good
cheers

Scans have revealed three nice big fat juicy Gallstones. See the Doc Monday and hopefully can have them removed this week, as this pain is not pleasant!!!
