3 seconds, that may be the training but I believe the manufacturers of said radar equipment may say otherwise.

It is a radar that requires a line of sight to send multiple beam pulses (not an expert on terminology)to an object moving or not that then measures the time for the beam pulses to return then by simple maths it can calculate the speed by the time it took to the different pulses to come back.

I found this after I wrote (If only I had searched) the post so the terminology is definitely wrong, but click on the link if you want real details about how it works in NSW. etc - http://www.delonixradar.com.au/new_south_wales/#Laser

They also have links for each state, from the best of my knowledge the data is about a year old.

Thats right, that's why they ned to be set up on a straight bit of road. A slight curvr won't make a great deal of difference to accuracy, but if the cop is shooting radar across the line of a corner, his speed indication will be below what you are travelling at, no advantage to him there. As for having to track you for three seconds.... Radar waves travel at the speed of light, so I would think that it wouldn't take that long to get a reading of your speed, depending on the instrument.

perhaps, but if THAT indication is over the limit, then obviously you're over the limit and can be pinged.
