I had a similar experience, slipping on some guy's engine fluids after he'd rear-ended another car. I (just) managed to keep it off the bitumen, then spotted the offending vehicle down the road. I stopped and yelled out for the guy to get the fark back up to the roundabout to warn other motorists.
Anyone seen the photos yet?

Fark, mate, glad you're still alive to tell the tale.

Shifty wrote:Not to be cynical, but if you weren't a cop and/or were in QLD you'd be getting a ticket for that. A mate received a ticket for lowsiding on some fine & basically invisible sandy gravel on the road.
Cops showed and wrote him up for "failure to maintain full control of vehicle - motorcycle" (were originally going to do him for "drive without due care and attention") despite a witness saying he was UNDER the speed limit and riding sensibly, that he suffered expensive damage to his pride & joy which wasn't insured, wrecked all his gear and was laid up for a week with the injuries.
Their response was that you should operate your vehicle in such a manner that if any hazard on the road is encountered you should still be able to maintain full control of the vehicle. Which I'm sure is technically true but anyone with half a brain would apply discretion/common sense in such a case. So he was already out of pocket a week's pay (casual) and a good few grand in riding gear and damage to the bike and they wrote him up. Pack of carnts.
I hope the right thing is done in this case, and the Gemini driver scores various fines & defects.
Oh, and pics or it didn't happen
Anyway, in regards to your stack, I hope you heal well, completely and swiftly!

Re: Anyone seen the photos yet?
Thanks all for the comments. I have quite a sore neck today and on top of this ridiculous cold I've got, I think I'll be taking the day off.
The oil in this incident started at the entrance to the roundabout, and being quite a busy roundabout there wasn't much to have seen it prior to arriving there.
Yep... pretty much.matchan wrote:Do they send you straight back out on another bike?
He got what was coming for him. Let's leave it at that.Pontikat wrote:you did at least defect the Fecka's Car right ?
I would be VERY suprised to hear that happen here in SA. I have been to numerous crashes were bikes have hit oil and have never handed out a ticket.Shifty wrote:Not to be cynical, but if you weren't a cop and/or were in QLD you'd be getting a ticket for that.

Im breaking my hiatus momentarily, BUT ..You should get a Neg Driving Ticket for that in NSW, cant speak for SA though..
In 'NSW' you should drive to the road conditions, no matter what they are..So I was told by a judge at Singleton Court House last year..wouldn't matter if an RAAF plane dropped a missile on you mid corner, you should ride with the intention to avoid all road hazards and poor conditions..
Nice stack too..

As for the NSW fine, that's just bull and should be contested in court.

Damn Jason, that sucks.
Glad you are ok and didn't end up underneath the monster bike (or, as you said, another vehicle.)
Hope your body and your pride are well again soon.

Realisticaly, that's probably true. But... if we did do that, none of us would ever leave home!hoffy wrote:In 'NSW' you should drive to the road conditions, no matter what they are..So I was told by a judge at Singleton Court House last year..
The judge sounds like a dickhead. They often are.
