Talk to me about tank pads someone. Are they there to help grip, prevent scratches or both?

Mine used to have a carbon fibre looking one that started under the seat line and went only as high as the top of the blue. The one in the picture starts and finishes higher up.

What should I look for in a tank pad and where should I put it? Those fishbone looking ones go further up the tank, do I want one of those? Or do I just want one to protect the bottom of the tank where it joins the front of the seat from getting scratched by my jacket/zipper?

I don't think I want a blingy looking one, probably a black or CF looking one will do me.

Help. It's the last piece of the puzzle...

tank pad/frip pad is different.....

tank pad to stop scratching from zips on pants or jacket to back of tank...

grip pad on side of tank near knees... for grip but would also prevent scuffing from pants/leathers... but grip pads usually are knobbly for the grip....

not sure how many blokes on here grip the bike with their beergut..... usually they folding it over the tank to make way for the block and tackle.... ;)

Yes it is a rectangular sheet of either material 7" x 13", and you cut it to suit your bike. It's for those who's bike doesn't have one specifically made for it. Also good for stunters, the snake skin is really good for on the tank etc.....

There is not a specific one for the 9 would you like a general sheet? And the Ice grip is only available in a general sheet. Please see the link in the first post and look at what you would like, then let me know.

hey this might be a silly question but i have looked all over the site and even asked a few people on the forum. I am after a pic of the Ice grip. I am assuming that it looks something like stomp grips and I am fully aware that it only comes in a sheet.

I like the Ice (never thought i'd see myself write that) stuff, doubt theres any out there for my bike, so i guess i can put my hand up for the ice stuff (assuming im not too late), what'd be the turnaround time for an order presuming i get in on it? (i only just saw this thread earlier on tonight).
