I've spent the last two days doing it. About 60 square meters to go.
Back to work on Satuday. Will be like going on holidays in comparison.

Is this a Preston MC event? Do you need to be a member to go? And do you have any spare trailer/van space?

It's the Interclub series. 5 (?) different clubs compete against with and against each other. Yes you need to be a member - mind you I'm still working on that 2 days out! Overall this weekend is going to set me back $225 in fees. $130 entry, 45 for a competition day license, $50 for 12 month membership to Preston.
If your interested in having a go Michael give me a call ( 0408 378 708 )and I'll give you the relevant contact numbers. Alternately just come along and see how it all runs before jumping in boots and all. It's all very easy going and a good fun day. Oh yeah and I haven't got a pit bitch either so I'd be happy to put you to work!

Fired her up last night ! Started quite easily but had the right hand carb flooding badly and had the garage filled with 747 smoke before I knew it . And I had it parked outside
So out with the battery and airbox , carb off , adjust the float height and back together . First kick without any choke and away she went .
Closed the garage door this time
Very crisp and snappy off the throttle and sounds great . Left hand cyclinder doesnt seem to be running as strong tho , a bit of throttle slide adjustment i think .
Have got larger jets in to be safe for running in , especially since we are going to be at the Island . Will run it a couple more times to heat cycle the engine before getting on the track and a practice session might be taken a bit quietly .
Have to put the glass on tonight and load it so wont get a chance to get it out to that private test track .
My back is rooted from leaning over the carbs
should be a good crew down there , Me , Groggles , Simmo , Kwack Addict and that Chinese bloke Sumkhant aka Slow and Wobbly . A bloke from the PCRA site is coming down to give me a flogging with his TZR and NSR . Sir Al from Team 400 . Good bloke who has been very helpfull . Pity he doesn't know how mighty the KR is

Nice work Bill, I just love the smell of 2smokes....

....
Are you using stock reeds, pistons etc?

Nah Jonno , the pistons are aftermarket standard style , Wossner forged . Reeds in this one are Boyeson dual stage , totally unknown performance wise but should be OK . Have flowed the cases and matched the barrels to the cases and shaped the transfer openings . Have shortened the inlet blocks by 3.5 mm , evidently this helps .
Have locked the power valves open for the moment to save hassles setting the bastard up right and having problems next Saturday . Should be fine at Phillip Island since most of it will be flat out , once it is run in

They usally open at 8 grand and I figure at PI I wont be much under that in any gear once she has loosened up .
Sorting carburation will be the next big task . Have put larger mains in 140 up from 135 and pilots 40 up from 38 . Not big changes but a bit rich wont hurt the new motor . Have got a few spare jets so may change them after a few sessions . Have got quite good at pulling carbs out and apart

but still have no idea what Im doing

I wonder why people are so keen to dump the factory oil injection systems and run premix? On my TZR when you've got the throttle shut with the revs up (powervalve range) the oil pump is still pumping half as much oil as at full throttle, unlike premix where you get almost no oil without blipping the throttle. This is achieved by a simple cable and lever arrangement that adjusts the pump stroke based on the sum of the throttle cable pull and powervalve cable pull. A seizure into T1 would be arse puckering to say the least.

Generally it's because of the slight weight saving, and if it isn't fitted, then it can't pack up on you.

Weight saving on an oil pump? Jeebus!

I did say slight mate.

And for people like me who are too lazy to diet or exercise, any free weight saving is a bonus.
