Not sure what they should have done- all i know is what they did do-
it had mineral oil put in at the 1000km service. The guy in the shop agreed with us that it should be on synthetic oil now. Not sure, but it's working much better.

but its not just rings that need to bed in properly

Have you got any proof that the rest of the engine is machined so poorly that it needs to be run for thousands of ks? Funny considering that racing engines don't even live that long.Johnnie5 wrote: but its not just rings that need to bed in properly

majority of the run in happens in the first 1K , but engines tend to run better as they approach the 10K mark or further depending on the brand
