I don't think there was any issues with the bracket of the Kawasaki branded "oggies". It was the RHS engine mount bracket that was breaking from the frame because of the inadequate welding. Because of this issue, Kawasaki changed the way the RHS engine mount bracket is welded to the frame. The weld is significantly thicker than the earlier one. That is why I cannot use my geniune crash knobs (not Kawasaki branded) on the new frame.
Incidentaly, the earlier Kawasaki branded "oggies" were round, very different from Ron's wing-shape oggies.
Just curious. What is the built date of your Er6? Mine is March 06.
Ron, You may have a new frame without knowing it.

Mine was built late '05 - reg'd Jan. '06. No cracks in frame/engine mount - the bracket holding the round knob cracked through the fold just above the knob.

Did they help much in the lay down Ron? I only had a quick look up at Dave's so didn't take much notice.

I'm sure they stopped the bike being a BBQ, Nelso. The tank has a scrape on it about 30 mm x 10 mm. The alternator cover only has a couple of scratches.
