Most probably, thety gotta make ther money somehowfrl0173 wrote:Just helped my dear old mom get out of speeding fine from the beginning of the month, turned up yesterday in the mail, only problem it was from the ACT, AND she was in Italy at the time![]()
So Rang them this morning and the lady on the other end says she will look at the pic, and lo and behold she starts to say that ONE of the letters on the plate is not readable, but suddenly stops and just says that they will cancel that fine. Now does that mean that if they cant read one digit on thr plate that they just send it out to everyone who could have that combination of numbers and hope for the best??
If you had used a shot gun they wouldnt have said anythingLoz wrote:I know, it sucks, the other day they caught me beating a small child with a truck spanner and they want to fine me for that too! What next?
quote="Mick C"]I know it sounds harsh mate but stiff shit, you didn't have to answer the phone and I'm glad to see that the law is being enforced on that one cos I'm sick of seeing people getting away with it. I have a relatively short ride to work each day and I saw three people on the phone within about 1km of each other and none of them were driving properly, all happily laughing away with whoever they were talking to without a care in the world cos they know they won't get done

I didnt say I didnt deserve it, just hated the feelin of being fined
yea I deserve it cause I nearly got taken out on the bike by some one using ther mobile fonehoffy wrote:Sorry to hear Adel, but sounds like you just need to cop that one..

Re: FINES
hey guys, lols everyone sort of went off the topic.
i really need help and advice right now. i had just picked up my bike from the mechanics after having a new clutch put in, and as a rode the bike home i felt i should fully test the new clutch- some how i managed to get up to 124km/h without noticing. then a cop pulls me over and fines me $400 for doing 124km/h in a 80km/h road, and also fines me $300 for an un-registered vehicle. i hadn't paid the registration because i stopped using my bike and was planning on selling it, if i did sell it i would have paid registration for the buyer.. only if i sold it, otherwise i would leave it in the garage un-registered. now they've suspended my license for 6 months.
in summary, loss of license for 6 months and a $700 fine for un-registered vehicle and 40km/h over speed limit. cant afford the fine and really need transport to uni and to work. desperate for help! can a lawyer help? if i take it to court do i stand a chance of winning?

A lawyer can help ease the weight of your wallet, not much more I reckon.bunna wrote:in summary, loss of license for 6 months and a $700 fine for un-registered vehicle and 40km/h over speed limit. cant afford the fine and really need transport to uni and to work. desperate for help! can a lawyer help?
Nope, you wre cuaght int he act, you actually WERE speeding when you were caught and you WERE riding an unregistered vehicle, all you can asak for is lube as you bend over.bunna wrote:if i take it to court do i stand a chance of winning?
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Besides which, a lot of coppers are recording conversations with members of the public for this very reason. It's always "The copper was rude", "The copper was arrogant"... I mean, for fuck sake, it's never "Yes, I know the law, I fucked up and got a fine and the copper was perfectly nice in the enforcement of the law."zzzak wrote:if he gets two citizen complaints against him any promotions will be held over for 3 years, just like your points.
An ex sergeant told me that.
The more people that get pinched for "False report", inlcuding those that make false reports to internal investigations sections, the better. And if you think it doesn't happen and that members of the public don't end up in court over it, then think again before you send of that "The copper was a cunt and I want to get off this fine because of it" letter.

Actually! Sometimes it is a case of "yes, i know the law, i fucked up and the copper was perfectly nice in the enforcement of the law", as this is what happened to me last sunday thru the nasho. I knew the cop had me before he even flashed his lights at me, the moment i saw his lights turn on and the car start to slow i looked for a safe place to pull over, i was off the bike and helmet off as he pulled up. It was because of this and the fact i didn't mouth off, i believe, that the cop let me go with the minimum fine and points loss he could give me. I knew i'd fucked up and he knew that i knew, he quite calmly and politely pointed out the dangers of my speed in the area and on such a shit section of road. It was pretty obvious that he didn't WANT to be out there booking people but i didnt leave him with much choice, he was simply doing his job. I've run into much worse coppers in my time thats for sure! You fuck up, you get caught, you get fined.....there are much worse things in life!
This beer is making me AWESOME!

Re: FINES
I'm teaching a cop to ride at the mo. Twice during our lesson the other day, two people failed to give way to us coz they were too fucking busy talking on their fucking phones. I think he showed great restraint not going up and booking the fuckers.

Re: FINES
my only input into the copper showing self restraint in booking people cutting you guys off is "haha".
Still regard to the O.poster, "time and place". The only thing you can do is be nice and cop it sweet really. They have taken a lot of the fun out of things by making things like fines and suspension mandatory, which means you can still be screwed if you lawyer up good & propper.
