Once it got chewed, so i fliped it over and tightened it a bit harder, just over a grunt!
a mate of mine did an oil change the night before a trackday, tightened to 2 grunts. damaged the thread and was leaking oil all over the track the next day...lucky he was out there for only one session when i discovered there was a puddle under his bike :?

its more the hassle of getting the washer rather than the $2 for me...
where did u get the filter and oil??

i had to replace mine on my Xr600 once.

i thought ada tightend it, he thought i did, so off i went to work the next morning, about 20 kays from home, it fell out and squirted oil over my foot, and my foot slipped off the peg,
i stoped turned the bike of an it went
"glug glug glug" dropped the lot ont he side of the road :)

i called dad and we make me a new plug and washer using a bolt we founf in his truck, cut it down a bit, and stuck some silastic around it and tightend it up

it stayed on for about 6 months till i sold it.
the night b4 it went i put a new one on it.

did the change, tightened to the specified torque, washer seems to be a little depressed from the bolt but i reused it. doesn't seem to be dripping or anything so alls good for now.

I think next time i'll be less cheapskate and change it...

You jinx'd me

I did an oil change on my daughters ktm 50 and thought everything was fine and on sat morning there was a puddle of oil sitting under it.

Anyway after draining what was left and looking at the thread in the oil drain hole I noticed the helli-coil that I put in there last year unscrewed alittle and the end of the thread was sticking past the sealing face.
One new copperwasher and alittle work on fixing the helli-coil and all's good.
