ZX 14 Dethroned

It's funny, people who don't know about fast things always ask about top speed. They don't seem to comprehend that the fun is the acceleration, rather than the outright speed.

Excepting 250's I can think of very few people who have topped out their bike's max speed.

I said nothing about not trying. I remember a ride out int he middle of nowhere, when I pulled up to my mate on the side of the road with his arms crossed, tapping his foot saying he'd been waiting 15 minutes... we'd only been on the bike 25

top speed runs never happen, i have never seen 2 zx9's, zx10, z1000 and zx12 with thier riders flat on the tank and going for it

well maybe one or twice somewhere in the middle of nowhere

I guess these over-policed days it is harder to acheive

In the 90's, every friday in Mount Isa I would take my CBR 1000 to top gear redline heading east out of town. Turn around , go home , park the bike & get a taxi to the Overlander to hit the piss.
To offset that these days I sometime's run 16/45 sprockets for months on end on the ZRX, factory is 17/42. When I tour 18/42, 3400rpm @ 100klm/h, 10'500 redline

Pffft, for the price of that thing i could own 2 14's or even a 12 and a 14. And still wouldnt know how fast they went cause i wouldnt be attempting it.. So they claim fastest production bike hey ? Well let me see, i believe the 14 unrestricted can do around 318 if my memory is any good. And i also believe i read the Busa and the 12 doing around the 316 mark unrestricted. So i guess that leaves 312 somewhere behind..

And no way could the Italians try for most powerful bike, cause they think torque is something you do on the phone..
