Scooters and skirts

The lady with the helmet looked pretty bizarre, the ASA label that would be at the back of the head when wearing an open-face helmet was facing straight up. The curved bit that goes around the face was around her neck and the straight edge around her face. Must have been pretty uncomfortable, the strap looked like it was digging in her neck

I was beind a girl on a scooter this morning - pants rolled up to the knees, cowboy boot, open faced helmet (right way up) - the thing I don't get is that she didn't even look like she was enjoying herself! Probably too cold coz she didn't have a jacket on.
I reckon a bit silly to not wear gear but a helluva lotta guys are riding around in tee-shirts & shorts at this time of the year - you just remember the chicks.
The ground hurts even if ur doing 25 kmh on a push bike - and those dudes only have bare skin and lycra!
People on scooters wearing bicycle helmets are probably actually on electric bikes - they look just like scooters but you don't need a licence or a proper helmet. They only go about 40 kmh.
Speaking of wearing helmets wrong - I saw an elderly gentleman on his pushy wearing his bike helmet back the front - with the wedgy bit out the front. Very cute

no disrespect Tabs...but i kno a scooter when i see one....

these turds are riding round on Bolwell scooters...50cc 4 strokes...capable of abt 80kph ....approx

and by law any bike that does over 15km/h (or sumthing) thats powered by any engine u need a lid.... i asked this question of riding my pocket bike on footpaths etc and was told i must have a proper lid, but its still unreg etc...

Ah well, if it's 50cc or under it's not classed as a motorcycle in SA and they don't need a motorcycle licence so they probably don't need a proper helmet either.

yeah but shite, have seen the results off a pushbike/car with a helmet.......have felt the impact off both a scooter and a motorbike and gee whizz, that there bitumen knows no diff between all of the above.............it all hurts....waaaahhh!! They dont need a motorbike license here in QLD either for a scoot..50cc. Im amazed by the no of either really young teens or really old dudes that are getting round on scoots and other than helmets there is very little protective clothing used.

i thought our resident plod woulda chimed in here...but im pretty sure u need an AS lid...

They are classified as a motorcycle, it's just that the licensing laws are different because they are under 50cc.

And yes, Neka, they need a proper helmet.

The worst of all for the girlies is tights. In an accident the nylon literally melts as it rubs the bitumen, requiring painstaking removal from open wounds. Not nice at all.

As an aside, I don't fully understand wearing a bike jacket and demin jeans. In almost every accident where I've got hurt, my legs have copped the worst of it (generally knees).

yea but not all of us can wear leathers everytime.... i guess we figure our upper bodies mean more to us or sumthin??

secret tip..i wear moto x knee/shin pads under my jeans, so if i do come off, its only skin damage- no stuffed knees etc...

I wear jeans tshirt and sandshoes every day to work and gloves with no fingers

better to be comfortable than a good looking bit of roadkill in my job.

Would wear the whole bit of kit at the track, touring, and ride days and just try to avoid falling off at work.

I am sure my work safety gear is on a par with aardvarks just no gun and handcuffs for when it gets kinky.
