Well I'm stumped....I can't think of any Kawasaki from 1986 that would have a set of triple clamps like that. They do look a bit dirty, especially with the rubber mounts, so you might have had a bit of inspiration from Pete's flat tracker. They also look like the sort of thing that would be hidden by a fairing and there's nowhere to mount an key barrel hmmmmm :?

well, someone has the thinking cap on.... :D good work, these clamps may not be from a Kwaka .......but your guess about the 'inspiration' is 100% on the money.

Those GPZ900-engined jobbies were called ZL900 Eliminators......they were a particularly hideous semi-chopped custom shitbox - they were released around 1986, and in 1987 the ZL1000 replaced them ( based on the GTR1000 motor) - they died a sad death in 1988, never having sold well at all.....

A Vulcan  brrrrrrr ugly scenes stage left .. :x

Neither of these bikes is remotely close to the bike under construction......its being regoe'd next week, so the final photos will be up by Wednesday ( all going well........)

O.K. Gos...

You got me interested with the engraved Z Owners rear drum....

Could it be a Z650?

Cheers,
Pete

10 points to the man with the ZRX - It is in fact a Z650 rear wheel... :P but that's the only Z650 part on the bike.....
