Is this the increase to cover insurance costs for kids injured in accidents? Sure, it is worthwhile but as WRT says, I was also under the impression it was to be a "small" increase :?

it has alot to do with postcode and where you live. Although for you I would have thought where you live to be pretty safe etc, and therefore cheap

For me its about $450.

I agree - it sucks big time!
$370 was the cheapest I could get (at GIO) - which is more than my car!

... let me just post what NRMA did:
last year: $361.90
This year: $547.96

No changes in history, no points, no accidents, no claims.

They 'say' they are now only giving discounts off CTP for those who insure their vehicles comprehensively with them.

I promptly cancelled my comprehensive CAR insurance becuase they didn't include that in the equation.

Is there a movement out there to prevent bike riders getting fair green slips? I spoke to the govt. CTP mob and they advised me because motorcycle riders are 20 times more likely to die in an accident ( :!: ) and the average cost of a motorcycle accident was $200,000 to 3rd parties, which was WAY higher than a car, that the premiums were high.

This raises 2 questions:
1 - surely CTP is for THIRD parties, not the bike/rider, and not everyone pillions
2 - I'd rather be hit by a bike at 60km than a Mack truck?

Go figure

I spoke to them last night - apparently it was becuase I haven't had a policy on the bike for more than 2 years (as in, I've only owned it for 1.5)?

What a bloody joke that is a huge increase mine came is the same details as Red Dave.

Small increase my ass  I feel bed for the uni-students/young ones that need to ride in order to get around. Quite often whey don't get much funding as it is let alone taking it back off them for ctp.

It's a feckin joke. i tried everthing. i've got everything insured with nrma including life, house, 2 cars, bike, even the bloody dog and they could not budge. what they did do though was increase my discount on my other policies to save me $200 a year.
Bikes make the world go round.
